Summary

[edit]
Description
English: The interactive zoom video of a mite Pheroliodes (Pheroliodidae) shows a sequence in which the viewer can move closer or farther away to explore different levels of detail of the organism. In the initial views, the general shape of the mite can be seen, with its compact body, short and robust legs, and finely ornamented cuticle. As the zoom is interactively adjusted, the sensory setae covering the tegument become visible, arranged in patterns characteristic of the family and essential for environmental perception. With greater magnification, the folds of the cuticle, the arrangement of pores, and the microscopic textures of the exoskeleton become apparent. At the highest levels of detail, the bases of the setae, surface striations, and variations in cuticle thickness can be observed, reflecting adaptations to its lifestyle. The interactive nature of the video allows these structures to be explored with precision, highlighting the anatomical complexity of the mite and the richness of microdetails present in organisms of extremely small size.
