This isn’t the first Lifepro gun we’re reviewing; we’ve tested and reviewed a few.

Lifepro is a reputable brand with a number of fitness and sports recovery products in their catalog. We have loved many of their devices (like DynaFlex or Sonic), not just because they are top quality, but also because they tend to be pretty affordable.

Today we will look at their smallest gun yet; the Lifepro Dyna Mini. We have it in our mini massage guns category. But is it worth any consideration?

Let us find out.

Lifepro Dyna Mini Specs (according to lifeprofitness.com1 and verified by our measurements).

Design, Size, and Ergonomics

The gun comes in a small, nice box – you can straightaway tell how small it is based on the size of the packaging. Inside the box is a carrying case, which is a good touch from Lifepro; we’ve always come to expect a case with any of their guns.

Before we talk about the device, it’s worth mentioning that the case we got has a fabric-like design with a leather strap. Our case is blue with a brown strap. We fumbled slightly with the zipper for our case, but we’re hoping we’re the only ones.

Inside the case are a few things; the gun, 4 attachments, a USB-C charging cable, and a simple but awesome user manual.

The device inside is definitely a mini massage gun. It’s small and compact. It’s highly portable too, measuring 5.6 x 3.5 x 1.7 inches.

But don’t let the size fool you. This isn’t a toy. It weighs a respectable 1.14 pounds (518 grams) with the flat attachment mounted. Why is it so heavy (per se)? We are guessing it’s because of the aluminum case (and battery size, more on that later). Devices with a metal casing tend to be considerably weighty.

The cold feeling you get when you have it in your hand is noteworthy. Just to compare it (in terms of size) with other minis; it’s perhaps the same size as the Recoverfun Mini (however, it’s lighter) and the Bod and Brad Q2. It’s a tad smaller than the Ekrin Bantam.

Lifepro Dynamini Vs Ekrin Bantam Vs Bob And Brad Q2
From left: Ekrin Bantam, Lifepro Dyna Mini, and Bob and Brad Q2.

The shape and design are familiar; we’d call it a classic look. It’s small with a short vertical handle. If you have seen the Recoverfun Mini, this one is similar. There’s probably a slightly noticeable difference with the extended handle at the top missing from the Dyna Mini. There are plenty of Amazon devices that look like this as well.

If you are not a fan of thick rounded handles, look away because this one is perhaps one of the thickest handles we have seen on a mini. What’s worse (or slightly worse, if you like everything else), there’s no rubber on the handle. We are used to seeing some rubber on handles. We saw it with the Bob and Brad Q2 device. With no rubber, you get sweaty hands when you hold the device for long.

We also love an angled handle massagers, even for minis. We adore the Bantam for this reason. Since Lifepro chose not to rubberize the handle, a slight tweak to the ergonomics would’ve sufficed.

Either way, other features are awesome. For instance, the overall build quality looks great. There are no visible screws, and the device looks seamless. A non-slip wrist wrap is at the bottom of the handle to keep it from accidentally dropping. This is a nice touch we haven’t seen with many guns.

Lifepro Dynamini Non Slip Wrist Wrap
A non-slip wrist wrap keeps the gun from accidentally dropping it.

You can choose between blue and black colors. Our unit is black. The blue one maybe better matches the case.

Our Take

Overall, we feel this is a quality device. The ergonomics could’ve been better, but it’s nothing you can’t live with.

Controls

There’s just one button to operate the device. We like single-button devices; they tend to be easy to work with.

  • Long press the button to turn the device on or off.
  • Quick presses will change the speeds.

There are LEDs to indicate the speed level, just above.

Attachments

There are 4 attachments with this mini massage gun – somewhat rare with many other minis on the market.

They include:

  • The ball head – This one is a typical one made of EVA foam. It’s harder than we would’ve liked though – there is very little give to it. Also, it’s not the best to use on clothes. It can work on large muscle groups.
  • The bullet head – This one, as expected, is made of hard plastic, however, we noticed it has soft tip. It’s best for releasing muscle knots and targeting trigger points2
  • The fork head – Also called the spinal head, this one is made of hard plastic as well. And like the bullet one, it also has a soft tips (the two prongs that go on either side of your spine). You can also use it to massage your Achilles3 too. Or you can use it as a double-tipped bullet head.
  • The flat head – This one is also made of hard plastic. You can use it on large muscle groups.

Our Take

It’s somewhat rare to find a mini device with nicely varied tips. The Dyna Mini has a fantastic setup – just what you need. We like the tips with slightly softer tips. Many massage guns out there don’t have this.

Performance

How much does this mini gun have to give in terms of amplitude, stall force, and percussions per minute?

Amplitude

Also called stroke length, this is the distance the massage gun head covers as it percusses.

Lifepro advertises the amplitude for the Dyna mini as 6mm. We measured it to confirm, and indeed, it’s 6mm.

Lifepro Dynamini Measured Amplitude
Our verification measure: 6mm amplitude confirmed!

This means you are getting a highly vibrational gun – don’t expect hard punches with this gun. But this is hardly a bummer; many minis have a similar amplitude. Think of Recoverfun Mini.

But we love a better stall force than this, even for a mini. This is why we tend to praise Ekrin Bantam for its 10mm stroke length. You might be paying more for it, but you’re getting your money’s worth, at least as far as the amplitude is concerned. Keep in mind that the Bantam is only a bit larger than this Dyna Mini.

Also, if you are hoping for a Theragun mini alternative in this gun, then you will be disappointed. Theragun mini has a 12mm amplitude (twice the size). Even Hypervolt Go 2 has a 10mm amplitude.

But a low amplitude paired with enough stall force can work the magic. How much stall force is here though?

Stall Force

Stall force is a massage gun’s ability to withstand pressure.

Lifepro doesn’t mention how much stall force their device has. We had to do our own estimation.

Our guesstimate is between 12-15lbs. of stall force. Which is meager to say the least. But we had a feeling it’s not as great as Ekrin Bantam given the very low amplitude.

Either way, we figured Lifepro probably meant to sell this device to customers who need a complimentary device – something to use on the go. You can use it to massage your knackered neck and shoulders, hands, feet, and smaller muscle groups.

At higher speeds, you can use some pressure when massaging your forearms, shoulders, and calves.

We noticed the percussions don’t slow down on small muscle groups, which is fantastic. But you won’t have much joy using it on larger muscle groups.

Percussions

Low amplitude guns tend to percuss really fast. It’s especially important when they have a low amplitude and stall force. The vibrations play a vital role in ensuring you get an effective massage. The percussions override the pain signals to the brain. They also increase heat in the muscle tissue helping the muscle to relax, thus easing tension.

The advertised percussions for the Lifepro DynaMini massage gun are 900-3200RPM. This is a typical range for many guns. Our tachometer gave slightly different readings, registering 940-2980RPM. Check the photos:

This is a wide range and good enough for a mini gun. Don’t worry about the missing 200RPM, they won’t make a huge difference, we promise!

There are 4 speed gears to cycle through.

Our Take on Performance

The Lifepro Dyna Mini has a low amplitude that feels vibrational. However, it percusses really fast and has just about enough stall force to do what it’s meant to do. The percussions don’t slow when you apply some pressure on small muscle groups.

This is a decent setup for a mini massage gun. It will provide relief to pain areas like the neck and shoulders as well as small muscle groups. You can use it on your back too.

However, for bigger muscles, you’ll need something much stronger. The Bantam (reviewed here) has more power in the same size.

Noise

You expect a 6mm amplitude gun not to buzz too hard. This one doesn’t. It’s quiet enough. The sound is smooth with no crackling or rattling.

The advertised noise levels are given as 45-55dB. Our dB meter gave us 47.3-54dB (see below). Impressive! It’s especially quiet on lower gears. Higher gears aren’t noisy either.

Battery

Another impressive aspect of this massage gun is its battery. The 2500mAh capacity battery isn’t common with mini massage guns. This is a tiny device and such a big battery is a bit of a surprise.

But maybe that’s why it feels a bit weighty, besides the metal caging.

That said, expect impressive performance as well. It can do up to 4 hours on lower speeds and up to 2 hours if you use higher speeds and apply some pressure. There’s an auto-shut-off feature that kicks on after 10 minutes. It saves power and prevents the battery from overheating

The USB-C charging method is convenient and awesome. You can use a power bank to charge it on the go. We just don’t like where they placed the charging port. Putting it at the top of the device feels odd (and somewhat ugly). We are used to those being at the bottom of the handle.

Lifepro Dynamini Usb C Charging Port
The USB-C charging port is placed at the top of the device. This feels odd.

There are LEDs that indicate the battery charge. However, they are also the same ones that indicate speed. This is great for a cleaner design but a bummer when you can’t tell how much of the battery is left when the device is running. But with time, you will get the hang of it.

Our Take

Overall, we love that there’s plenty of juice on this thing. We also love the convenient USB-C charging and the modern approach to things. Good job, Lifepro.

Who is it Best for, Then?

The Lifepro DynaMini will treat sore muscles, improve blood circulation, and is great for lymphatic drainage4.

It’s a great everyday mini device. It will be great for people who work behind the desk, folks who go to the gym – it can be a great one for warming your muscles before a workout5.

If you prefer a less-punchy gun, this one is for you as well. It’s also a good massage gun for women and folks with small hands. The elderly people will also love the overall size and its performance.

Our Recommendation

But, because of its so-so power, it may not be the best choice for demanding users. You’d rather go for Ekrin Bantam or get Theragun mini.

That said, it’s still a great device that percusses really well. It’s also decently priced.

Warranty and Price

The Dyna mini comes with a lifetime warranty. Apart from Ekrin, Lifepro provides a lifetime cover for all their devices.

It only goes for $89.99. You can use the MGA10 coupon at checkout that gives you a 10% discount. It’s only $81.00 than. No brainer.

This is an awesomely priced gun. You are getting a well-done device that percusses really fast. Even better, this is the only under $100 gun with a lifetime warranty. It’s a good deal – you’re getting great value for your money.

Best Lifepro DynaMini Alternatives

There has to be other guns that can give the Dyna Mini a run for its money, right? Here are the ones we picked…

ekrin bantam massager in hand

Ekrin Bantam

We can’t talk enough about how good Ekrin Bantam is. It’s better than the Dyna Mini in more ways than one.

First, Ekrin is the better brand of the two – we voted it the best massage gun brand.

The gun itself is larger than the Dyna Mini. But this also means it’s better to hold. It has an angled handle that is also rubberized.

In terms of power and performance, it’s monumentally better. It has a 10mm amplitude, which means it has 40% more punch than the Dyna Mini.

It also has over 30lbs. of stall force – better than even some of the larger devices out there. It has more percussions – up to 3200RPM.

It has a similar number of attachments. These are slightly harder but feel more premium. It also comes with a USB-C charging system. You also get a lifetime warranty.

It goes for $149, but you can get a 20% discount using the MGA20 coupon. You can then buy it for only $119. So it’s not much more for a much better device.

Read More Here is a full Ekrin Bantam review to check out.

Bob And Brad Q2 Ergonomic Grip

Bob and Brad Q2

Bob and Brads’ Q2 massage gun slightly betters Lifepro’s Dyna mini.

For starters, it has better ergonomics and therefore better to hold. It has a rounded shape and a rubberized handle that feels nice to hold.

It has more power as well. Expect about 25lbs. of stall force and a 7mm amplitude. However, the percussion range is narrower – 1800-3000RPM, but still good enough to do the job.

It comes with 5 attachments (1 more than the Dyna mini). We love this setup, plus there is a cushioned head that you can use on bony and tender areas.

It’s also cheaper. It goes for about $66. You can buy it at Amazon here.

However, it only comes with a 12-months warranty.

Read More Feel free to check our detailed Bob and Brad Q2 review.

Review Summary

Before we end our Lifepro Dyna mini review, it suffices to say that this is one of the most well-executed minis out there. Yes, it will be vibrational because of the small amplitude and a lower stall force, but we feel the fast percussions can compensate for it.

It’s a good everyday device but not the best for demanding athletes and users. It’s compact and has plenty of battery juice. It’s very affordable and offers great value for money. It’s even better with the lifetime warranty.

However, we do feel some competitors offer better value. One of the listed alternatives is more expensive but better in many ways (the Bantam). The other has a better ergonomics and is slightly cheaper (the Bob and Brad Q2). PS. don’t forget to use our discount coupons.

Until next time, bye.

Lifepro Sonic Review – An Oldie Goldie That Packs a Punch! https://massagegunadvice.com/lifepro-sonic-review/ https://massagegunadvice.com/lifepro-sonic-review/#comments Thu, 17 Nov 2022 22:39:14 +0000 https://massagegunadvice.com/?p=716 Welcome to this Lifepro Sonic review. This is a rather interesting review for a few reasons.

First, this is not a new massage gun. The Lifepro Sonic has been on the market for a while. Even so, it’s still a pretty strong device.

Also, we are writing this review based on what we know about the massage gun market in 2022. We have always loved Lifepro and their top-tier massage guns. Even though many aren’t premium, they can do a decent job.

The third reason we are choosing to review this product today is that it’s the only massage gun under $100 with a lifetime warranty.

However, there are other decent alternatives that we list in this review.

Lifepro Sonic Specifications

First Impressions

Lifepro devices always come with a carrying case, and this one is no exception. Even though it’s not the sleekest case you’ll ever see, it’s better than none at all. Everything fits nicely inside the case.

The device itself is T-shaped. This type of design is generic and rather boring today. But this is not a 2022 massage gun, so bear with the manufacturer. But the standard design has a nice twist to it; it has a long slim handle. The gun itself isn’t as small as some of the other full-sized devices we have seen before, but it’s far from bulky.

But a few features make it look really out of place in the 2022 market. For instance, the on and off switch is located at the back of the panel. There is also the matter of the speed being indicated as Hz (a bit geeky) rather than RPM.

But the controls are fun. The main button is located underneath the main panel and makes using it feel like pulling a pistol’s trigger. This is the same setup we saw with the older Hypervolt Go.

Talking of looking like an old model, this one isn’t as old as, say, the very early Theraguns or the Vybe V2 (which still sells, by the way). Those looked like power tools with their rough designs. This one is slightly more modern-looking compared to those.

However, if you have seen massage guns for a while (like we have), you will notice that the Sonic doesn’t look modern – at least not by 2022 standards.

You can choose from four colors: black, blue, red, and silver. The build quality is good. It looks and feels sturdy. We love the rubber parts, but the plastic parts could do with an injection of quality.

soinc colors
There are 4 colors available.

Weight and Ergonomics

This is a full-sized device that looks rather large. We’d say the long handle makes it look tall and somewhat bulky. It measures 9.84 inches tall, 2.64 inches thick, and 8 inches long with the flat attachment mounted. It weighs 2.2 pounds with a flat attachment. The weight is certainly standard considering how large this device looks.

By just looking at it, you can tell the ergonomics aren’t that great. If you are like us, you will prefer an angled handle or something that isn’t straight.

But this one is straight and long. But it’s slim too, so that somewhat remedies the situation. You’ll still have a firm grip because of the square-shaped handle.

It’s a long handle, so you will have a few different ways of holding the device. Another good thing about a long handle is you can easily reach your back (especially the lower back).

We like that Lifepro added plenty of rubber on the handle to improve the grip. But there are cons to how the handle is set up. The speed setting button is located at a fun place (it feels like you are pulling a trigger on a pistol), but it’s also prone to accidental pressing. An accidental press will stop the device if you are at the highest setting. However, this will only happen when you are holding the device at the top.

Lifepro Sonic Start Speed Button
The speed setting button and battery release button (on the side of the device).

Attachments

The device comes with 8 attachments. This looks awesome at first, but if you carefully examine the attachments, you will notice some aren’t needed.

For instance, there are 3 heads that feel the same. These are the finger tip, the bullet, and the pointer. They are all good for trigger points.

The same goes for the two flat heads; the texture flat and the large flat. What is even more interesting is the surface area of these two looks rather small. We know guns that have bigger flat heads – check out Ekrin and Opove.

That said, for a sub-$100 massage gun, it still feels like a good value set.

Performance

Let us see how this Lifepro Sonic percussion massager performs.

Amplitude

It’s the distance traveled by the massage gun tip as it percusses.

Lifepro advertises 12mm for this gun. However, we measured it and recorded 10.5mm. So, about a 1.5mm exaggeration, but it’s still on par with many other devices. This stroke length will deliver a percussive massage but will not be as punchy as Opove’s 12mm or Theragun’s 16mm.

Lifepro Sonic Measured Amplitude
We have measured 10.58mm of stroke length.

It also means that the treatment you receive will not be aggressive. However, it will be good enough to relieve muscle soreness, help with lymphatic drainage, and massage most muscles.

However, you will not get a Theragun-like experience. The low amplitude will not hit deep into the muscle or be effective on large muscle groups. You will need a high amplitude gun such as Opove with its 12mm amplitude, Theraguns with 16mm, or Hypervolt 2 Pro with its 14mm amplitude.

Stall Force

Stall force is the device’s ability to withstand some pressure. It often complements the amplitude.

The advertised figure (70lbs.) here is overstated. However, we estimate it’s about 40lbs.

That is still top-notch. Not many devices have such a strong stall force at this price point. The 40lbs. of stall force is good enough to allow a lot of pressure to be applied during a massage. Even lower speeds will allow you to apply some pressure.

Lifepro devices have this great feature that makes the device accelerate when pressure is applied. What you get with a device like this is, instead of the device bouncing off the muscle, it pulsates into it.

This is a well-balanced stall force that will suit most folks. Even with the somewhat low amplitude, you can still massage away the soreness and relieve muscle tightness.

Percussion

We’re used to denoting percussions are revolutions per minute (RPM). But Lifepro does it differently for this massage gun; they use Hz instead. So the advertised percussions are 25Hz or 1200RPM to 50Hz or 3000RPM.

We used our laser tachometer to measure the percussions just to be sure. We recorded 1200RPM for the first speed and 2700RPM for the 5th speed. That is about 300RPM missing for the last speed setting, but this is not a huge discrepancy, so we’ll let it fly.

Lifepro Sonic Controls Led Switch On Off
It’s a five-speed device.

So what you are getting here is good enough percussions to go with the other performance aspects. We think this is an okay setup. The top percussions are better than some modern devices we have seen.

Examples include Aura Revive and Sharper Image. It also revs faster than Opove M3 Pro 2, even though the Opove has a 12mm amplitude. Even Theraguns only do up to 2400RPM but have a 16mm stroke length.

Noise

This is not the quietest gun out there, but it won’t disturb your peace when you’re using it. For a 2019 gadget, it’s reasonably quiet. You can watch TV as you massage without raising the TV volume.

Sometimes it gets noisy when you press it against your body. You will also hear some rattling and creaking around the attachment. The dB rating says 49-66dB, but that’s only what the motor emits.

If you add the noise from the head, it could be 2-3 more decibels.

You will feel some vibrations in the holding hand. The rubber on the handle should help to mitigate the problem.

Battery

The battery is removable. It’s probably the only gun at this price point with a removable battery. The downside is that the charging port is on the device not the battery. This means you can’t use one when the other is charging.

The battery capacity is 2600mAh – which is the normal capacity for a full-sized device. You should get 2-4 hours of operation. There are 5 LEDs that indicate the charge level on the back panel. There is a wall charger included.

Warranty

You get a lifetime warranty from Lifepro. All their massage guns have a lifetime warranty. There is also a 30-day money-back guarantee and friendly customer support – Lifepro is a proven brand.

Price, and, is it Worth it?

Before, it sold for over $200, but now it goes for $116.99 at lifeprofitness.com (use the MGA10 code to activate the 10% discount).

With this gun, you are getting good value for money even though it’s not the latest hardware. But here are some other alternatives worth looking at.

Best Lifepro Sonic Alternatives

opove m3 pro massager t-shape full-size
Opove M3 Pro

Opove M3 Pro Max 2 – Better Performance and Quieter

Unlike the Lifepro Sonic, this one is the latest tech that recently came out. It’s slightly better in some aspects compared to the Sonic.

For starters, it has a 12mm amplitude that we confirmed using our digital caliper. It also has a similar stall force as the Lifepro Sonic. This makes it a better true percussive device.

The combination of a high stroke length and good stall force allows it to hit deep into even larger muscles. It comes with 5 speeds even though it has a slightly lower percussion range compared to the Lifepro Sonic.

It’s quieter than the Sonic – one of the quietest devices out there. It’s made with better materials. It also has high-quality attachments that are more varied, including a soft one for massaging bony and tender areas.

You can buy it for $119 at Opove.com.

Unlike the Lifepro device, which has a lifetime warranty, this one comes with a 1-year warranty. Even so, Opove will answer any questions you may have. They are a reputable brand.

urikar pro 2 handle rotation normal
Urikar Pro 2

Urikar Pro 2 – An Affordable Heated Massage Gun

The Urikar Pro 2 gun is not just affordable, it comes with one of the coolest features a massage gun can have; a heated ceramic attachment for a hot massage.

A heated massage is effective when you are trying to relieve pain in the muscle. It’s also helpful when you are rehabilitating an injured area.

It weighs the same as the Sonic but has better ergonomics. Instead of a long straight handle, it has an adjustable handle that holds better.

However, it doesn’t have as much stall force as the Lifepro Sonic percussion massager. But it has 12mm amplitude. It’s probably the only under $100 massage gun with a 12mm amplitude.

Apart from the heated massage feature, it has massage modes with dynamic speeds. It comes with 6 attachments that are well-varied, including a squishy one for massaging tender and bony areas.

With the code PRO2, you can get it for $93.5 – the price is almost cut in half. This is a great deal if you don’t mind a somewhat weak stall force.

Lifepro Sonic Review – Closing Thoughts

We wrap up our Lifepro Sonic review with a few points. This is an oldie goldie device with a lot to offer.

You can use it for pre and post-workout massage. It will also help to relieve pain and improve blood circulation. Even if you are irked by the old design, you won’t be disappointed with the power it carries.

We still believe the latest devices have a bit more to offer, but none can match Lifepro’s lifetime warranty.

By now, you have probably read plenty of our posts that talk about Lifepro and their massage guns.

Well, we won’t bore you with repetition for now, but it suffices to say that Lifepro is a well-known and established fitness brand that sells a lot of massage guns.

It’s the most active brand and very ardent in keeping its portfolio of massage guns fresh. We have interacted with most of their devices and loved most of them.

For now, let’s see what this Lifepro DynaFlex massage gun has to offer.

Lifepro DynaFlex Specifications

First Impressions

We know all Lifepro devices come with a carrying case and this one is no different. It comes with a black (branded) two-zipper carrying case. It has a nice texture and feels sturdy.

It has all the contents well placed inside – device, attachments, wall charger, and instructional manual.

The Device

It’s an intriguing design but not necessarily something out of the ordinary. It looks similar to most T-shaped massage guns that we have seen a lot. We wouldn’t say it’s exactly a “T” – more like an upside-down “L”.

Nonetheless, the straight handle is an important feature to mention here.

Apart from that, it has an adjustable arm. Theragun Pro comes to mind here. However, it’s a slightly different approach here (we’ll talk about it in ergonomics below). The handle is long and easily noticeable as well.

It’s all plastic on the outside, but pretty good quality plastic. It feels sturdy and well put together – no complaints.

Just one color option though; blue with touches of black – the handle is blue as well as the big button on the side. The corners are rounded, which makes the device look sleek and unique.

There is a pretty noticeable (not very large) LCD screen on the back of the top side. It has speed buttons ( and +). The power button is there as well.

There are icons as well; the battery icon, speed gears icon, and the timer – for how long your session has lasted. Another thing on the handle is the battery charging lights.

Weight and Ergonomics

Being a full-sized massage gun, we expect Lifepro DynaFlex to be solid. The long handle adds to the size of the device.

It weighs 2.5lbs. Perhaps heavier than most Lifepro guns we’ve looked at. Lifepro Sonic X for example weighed 2.2lbs (standard for most full-sized guns). Maybe the battery is big (lost of capacity? We’ll see). The device feels well balanced though. The extra bit of weight won’t do a lot of harm.

The handle harbors the battery. It’s a rather long handle – feels just a bit longer than most guns we have handled. But we like it. It helps for extended reach especially when you want to massage your lower back. There are plenty of grip options as well.

But the standout feature here is the adjustable arm. There aren’t many adjustable massagers out there. We did a post recently on adjustable massage guns and this DynaFlex took the top spot.

The arm can be adjusted into 4 lockable positions – the arm fixes itself and doesn’t move.

To adjust the arm:

  • Press the big blue button on the side where the Lifepro logo is.
  • Press and hold when pushing the arm to rotate.
  • The four positions are at 0o, 30o, 60o, and 90o
lifepro dynaflex adjusting the arm

The adjustability on this one is improved if the previous DynaFlex mini is anything to go by. Unlike that previous gun, the arm here doesn’t rotate freely, it fixes firmly into either of the 4 positions.

Attachments

You get the feeling that maybe Lifepro was trying to be generous here. 10 attachments is not something you see every day.

We are used to seeing 4 to 6 attachments, which in our experience are usually just enough to massage the whole body. But we are glad that our favorite heads: ball (universal for large muscle groups), flat (good for quads and large muscle groups), bullet (for pinpoint areas), and fork (for the spine and neck area) are included.

Lifepro added 2 variations of the bullet and flat attachments. They look slightly different but we believe they will do the same job and have the same effect.

There is a wishbone head that we haven’t seen before. There is also the Kayak head that we saw with the DynaSphere massage gun. We love using it.

All the heads are of good quality. Most are hard plastic but there are also some big soft ones for bony areas and the neck.

Performance

What does the Lifepro DynaFlex percussion massager have to offer in performance?

Amplitude

The distance traveled by the massage gun head on this Lifepro DynaFlex is impressive as well. It’s not so high as to be considered an aggressive massage gun like Theraguns and Achedaway Pro (16mm amplitude). It’s also not a vibrational massage gun either. It’s somewhere in the middle, what we like to call a “sweet spot” not too tiny, but not too long either – 13mm.

We have seen 13mm amplitude from a Lifepro gadget before. The DynaSphere – a budget, non-adjustable device.

With this kind of amplitude you can get a deep tissue massage. You can also use it when you want a soothing and delicate massage where a long stroke length is not needed.

But there has to be enough stall force in order to press this gun to your body when you have to. We know Lifepro always delivers when it comes to motor strength.

Stall Force

Stall force means the amount of pressure it takes to stop or stall the motor of a massage gun. It’s an important aspect to consider when you are looking for a good percussion massager.

Does the DynaFlex have enough stall force to be considered a good device?

Well, 45lbs. of stall force sounds good enough for us. On paper, this is Hypervolt Plus – the best Hypervolt – territory. It’s also more than Theragun Elite’s and a lot of other Lifepro models as well.

That is to say that this is a great percussion massager. We’ve seen better, more powerful guns – like Ekrin B37 and B37S – but this one is right up there with some of the best guns we have reviewed. But is it actually that powerful in practice?

Well, having tested Hypervolt Plus, this one feels slightly less powerful. We are guessing the real stall force should be around 40lbs. It’s difficult to stall on the highest gear.

However, we noted that just like in many other massage guns, the stall force here is progressive – increases with an increase in speed.

Percussions and Speed

We have reviewed many Lifepro massage guns and there is a consistency in the number of hits per minute for many of those guns.

Well, DynaFlex follows that pattern. It has a percussion range of 1500-3300rpm. That means it can get pretty intensive.

It’s also a very decent range given the 13mm amplitude. Unfortunately, the wide range here meant that Lifepro could exaggerate the number of speeds. 16 speed gears, to be honest, is one too many to cycle through.

SpeedFrequency (Hz)Percussions (PPM)
125 Hz1500 rpm
227 Hz1600 rpm
328 Hz1700 rpm
430 Hz1800 rpm
532 Hz1900 rpm
633 Hz2000 rpm
735 Hz2100 rpm
837 Hz2200 rpm
938 Hz2300 rpm
1040 Hz2400 rpm
1142 Hz2500 rpm
1243 Hz2600 rpm
1345 Hz2700 rpm
1447 Hz2800 rpm
1550 Hz3000 rpm
1655 Hz3200 rpm
Lifepro DynaFlex vibration speed options. Each speed offers a different vibration frequency (Hz) that translates into percussions per minute (PPM/RPM).

What this means is that you have a gun that easily stalls even in the first 7 or 8 gears. That is because the percussions increase only by 100. You’ll have to hit that + button a few times to get the speed that you like, which we are guessing will need some patience.

The stall force starts getting tough at around 2400rpm and by then you must’ve hit the speed button at least 10 times.

That said, we appreciate the wide range because it means you can start real slow if you want to.

Our Take on Performance

This is a strong device that can also be quite intensive given the maximum number of percussions. It has a perfect amplitude paired with enough stall force and a wide percussion range.

However, 16 speed gears are way too many for this kind of device. That’s because, even though the stall force is good enough, it takes too many gears to feel the power.

What that also means is that you cannot have a slow and deep massage – the first few gears easily stall when pressure is applied.

Noise

We are glad Lifepro doesn’t overstate the noise levels on their devices. We have seen this with many other brands advertising their devices as “very quiet” only to find something different when you turn it on.

The noise level here is listed as 40dB to 65dB. Our own measurement gave us 66dB on the highest gear. This is louder than some of the devices we recently tested e.g. Ekrin 365, but perhaps it is justified given slightly higher amplitude in the DynaFlex (devices with longer stroke length tend to be noisier than those with low amplitude).

The device rattles a bit when pressed against the body but nothing unusual. Expect some vibrations on the handle but nothing too uncomfortable. The long handle helps to mitigate this.

Battery

We like the battery capacity of this device. 2000mAh is not new among massage guns – some have more – but it’s not bad either.

To make it even more interesting, Lifepro says the battery can last between 4 to 25 hours depending on speed and pressure applied. But we are not really buying that. No one will use any device at speed 1 (which in this case is just 1500rpm) for 25 hours straight. At this speed the stall force will be very low as well.

However, we believe 5 to 8 hours is more realistic with this device. This is good and you can have some juice left in it even after a week.

But the big plus here is the removable battery feature. The charging port is also attached to the battery, which means you can buy a spare battery and use one while the other is charging.

Unfortunately, though, we haven’t seen the option to buy a spare battery at Lifepro. Maybe they’ll have some soon.

There are 3 LED lights to indicate the battery charging status.

Warranty

Lifepro has a lifetime warranty on all their devices – something we appreciate a lot here. They also have a 30-day money-back guarantee which we believe you can exploit creatively.

You can order this device along with another preferred Lifepro gun (say Sonic X), have a hands-on comparison and then send one back. Why not?

Price

The device currently retails at $199.99 or just $179.99 if you use the coupon MGA10 that gives you a 10% discount. Only available when purchasing at lifeprofitness.com.

At this price, it’s cheaper than Hypervolts and Theraguns. You get a good gun with decent features. If you are not entirely impressed, you can check out alternatives listed below.

Who is it Best For?

With this kind of performance, we expect this Lifepro DynaFlex percussion massager to be good for everyday use at home.

Also, because it has adjustability – the arm – and enough power, amateur athletes who want a DIY massage gun will find it very useful.

It’s also not a bad choice as a physiotherapists or a chiropractor massage gun. With the removable battery, decent percussion range, good battery life, and adjustability, it fits perfectly into their needs.

But we wouldn’t recommend it for those who need a strong and punchy massage (bodybuilders, pro athletes, and weightlifters).

You may need to look for a gun with higher amplitude (preferably 16mm) and even more stall force.

Best Alternatives to Lifepro DynaFlex

lifepro sonic x massage gun
Lifepro Sonic X

Lifepro Sonic X – Similar Amplitude, More Stall Force

Why this one?

  • More power – 56 lbs.
  • Easier to use
  • Lighter and quieter

We did a Sonic X review before and told you how it looked very similar to Ekrin B37.

Well, if you are out for something superb but without the adjustable arm, here is your gun. For starters, it has a similar kind of amplitude as the DynaFlex – 12mm vs 13mm, the 1mm difference is negligible.

However, it has even more power, which means you will be doing a lot more pressing with it. It has 56lbs. of stall force. If you want a deep tissue massage (large muscles), then here is the gun for you.

Another thing that makes it a good alternative is that Lifepro didn’t overdo the speed gears on this one. Unlike the DynaFlex (16 speeds) this one has just 5 speeds.

It doesn’t have any LCDs, which isn’t a bad thing. We like the angled handle that allows for a natural grip and extended reach for lower back massage.

It’s lighter than the DynaFlex – 2.2lbs vs 2.5lbs. It’s also quieter – we are guessing the smaller amplitude and the hush motor are the reasons why.

It also comes with a lifetime warranty and the same price or either $199 or $179.99 with the MGA10 coupon applied (10% discount).

OPOVE M3 Pro Max
Opove M3 Pro Max

Opove M3 Pro Max

Why this one?

  • More power – 50 lbs.
  • More amplitude – 15mm
  • A bit lighter and quieter

Here’s a different proposition for those who enjoy more power but would also love a punchy massage.

The Opove M3 Pro Max offers you both. It has a 15mm amplitudeTheragun-like and you will not feel the 1mm difference.

You also get up to 50lbs. of stall force which is more than what the DynaFlex offers. It won’t be as powerful as the Sonic X above, but it’s enough stall force to massage even big muscles.

One thing we’ll say here is that Opove may have slightly overstated the stall force for this device, but it’s still powerful than the DynaFlex – a tad more, but something you can feel.

Other features that the device offers include a nice percussion range of 2000-3300rpm. That is awesome given the long stroke length. There are 4 speeds as opposed to the cumbersome 16 on the DynaFlex.

It’s also lighter – 2.3lbs vs 2.5lbs for DynaFlex. It’s also quieter (just 63dB at maximum speed), which is surprising given the long amplitude. You get 5 nicely varied attachments and a case as well.

You’ll have to pay $220 to get it but there is a limited time offer that allows you to buy it on their website at $169 – quite a bargain if you hurry.

Cons

  • You won’t get a lifetime warranty, just a 1-year warranty.

However, you still get a decent massage gun from a proven brand. Opove has been around for a few years.

Lifepro DynaFlex Review Conclusion

Before we wrap up this Lifepro DynaFlex review, there are a couple of things worth pointing out again.

  • We are pleased with DynaFlex. It’s a quality massage gun with a unique approach to things – an adjustable arm.
  • We also love the great combination of amplitude, stall force, and percussion range.
  • Unfortunately, are too many speed gears for our liking but it’s something that can be overlooked given other strong features – a lot of attachments, a strong carrying case, and easy controls.

That said, we also believe that Lifepro Sonic X is an equally strong gun – slightly different approach, but a very good device. That’s why we have listed it as one of the best alternatives.

The DynaSphere massage gun is a remarkable device that doesn’t get the credit and the recognition it deserves.

Sometimes, even among ourselves we have realized that we pay so much attention to the high and mighty in the percussion massagers market that we forget to look elsewhere (everybody wants Theragun or Hypervolt).

Fortunately though, we have talked about the Lifepro DynaSphere a lot in our guides – and for good reason too. Today let’s focus solely on this incredibly simple yet awesome device!

Lifepro Brand Intro

But first, Lifepro is a famous brand especially in the fitness industry. A quick perusal through their portfolio and you can see just how much they have to offer. From massage guns, Yoga gears, treadmills and even exercise bikes.

lifepro massage gun

In our journey to explore the massage gun world we have not seen any brand with a vast array of massage gun models as Lifepro.

They have it all!

Amazingly though, their products are very affordable and we have always recommended them as alternatives for those who want a second opinion.

So, here’s what we thought about the Lifepro DynaSphere massage gun.

First Impressions and Build Quality

The device comes in a nice branded two-zipper carrying case. Unzipping it we found the device itself, the wall charger, and uniquely enough, another zippered case for the attachments.

We saw something similar with Theragun Pro but that was more of a pouch than a real, sturdy case. That aside, the Lifepro DynaSphere percussion massager is uniquely designed.

lifepro dynasphere Package Contents
The DynaSphere gun comes with two carrying cases. The small case is for attachments and the large one to carry all pieces together.

Well, to be honest, we’ve seen all manner of shapes and designs and maybe by now nothing should surprise us. However, the DynaSphere feels different; it’s spherical in shape. We’ll admit it’s sleek and stylish, but we saw the same thing with the Minirex, and we can’t decide which one is more hip. The Minirex was smaller in size but other than that the similarities are almost indistinguishable.

Apart from the spherical shape (dynamic sphere perhaps), the DynaSphere has a rather long handle which we would say is both good and bad.

dynasphere vs minirex
DynaSphere vs Minirex: DynaSphere from Lifepro looks like a big brother to Minirex.

Bad news first, the long handle adds weight to any device, making it bulky. The good news though; the long handle helps to reach otherwise difficult to reach parts – like the lower or upper back (more on this later). That said, the device still feels comfortable to hold.

The controls are simple and intuitive. The power button is way at the bottom of the handle and oddly enough you have to twist it to turn on the device – we have not seen this with any other massage gun.

Apart from the peculiar twist, everything else is as you’d expect; quick taps to the control button changes speeds. There are 6 LEDs around the control button to indicate speeds and some along the handle to indicate battery charge level.

Attachments

The DynaSphere has 5 nicely varied attachments:

  • Kayak: The wide curved head that can be used over joints and hard angles, which reduces hand fatigue and awakward angles.
  • Flat: The flat head is a universal attachment that can be used on most parts of the body but works well on large muscle groups (think pecs and quads). This one has a soft touch to it. It’s probably the first time that we’ve seen the flat head this soft.
  • Round/Ball: This one works on most areas of the body, but better on large muscle groups as well. Here it’s smaller than the big flat (dampener-like). It has a nice spin to it but we’d prefer the big flat to it. It’s rubber here which is awesome because rubber actually lasts longer than foam.
  • Spinal/Fork: The attachment used to massage the area along the spine and the neck area. Here it’s soft – rather strange to be fair, many brands make this attachment with hard plastic. A soft fork attachment may not work so well along the spine. But then again maybe we are used to hard plastic, you be the judge.
  • Bullet: Used to massage sensitive areas and for deep tissue massage. This one has to be hard plastic though, is it here? Not exactly, it may be harder than the others, but there is a softness to it that we don’t see often with many other devices.

All in all, the attachments on the DynaSphere lean more on the softer size as compared to what you would perhaps find if you bought a Hypervolt, where most attachments are hard plastic.

The instructional manual is a good place to start if you are new to massage guns, The one here is nicely done, with information on all attachments, device data, how-to-use and safety information.

Size, Weight and Ergonomics

The device, upright, measures about 3.5” x 5.3” x 10” (length x width x height). The initial quick glance gives you the impression that you are looking at one of those fancy-looking but bulky devices. But, it’s actually the opposite.

Upon closer inspection and when you actually get to hold the device, it’s actually not that big. The spherical design gives it a slender look even though the long handle doesn’t help with the initial judgement.

percussion massager lifepro dynasphere
It’s actually not as big as it looks.

Talking of the handle, we’d say it’s more of a good thing than a bad one, so to speak. The extra length may give the device the bulky appearance, but it’s awesome when you have to reach those tough spots – especially when you have to reach your back. We believe the extra length comes in handy.

There is an ever so slight, almost unnoticeable, tilt to the handle that we also believe is a big plus. It’s not the 15-degree angle we see with Ekrin B37 or Lifepro’s own Sonic X, but it’s something. The slight tweak helps to ease fatigue on the wrist during longer massage sessions.

How about the weight? This device weighs 2.1lbs. Obviously looks can be deceiving. 2.1lbs is actually lighter than Theragun Prime and Elite – both weighing 2.2lbs, and both Hypervolts which weigh 2.5lbs and 3lbs.

dynasphere massage gun
DynaSphere’s spherical design.

Even though most of the weight is on the handle, the device feels well balanced and you get used to it really fast. The handle diameter is also just the right size and will fit comfortably even for those with small hands.

We miss a rubberized handle with this device. Since it doesn’t have an auto-stop feature, it would’ve been awesome to have a rubberized handle to even things out in case of longer sessions.

Performance

So, how does Lifepro DynaSphere perform?

Amplitude (Stroke Length)

Amplitude is the distance travelled by the massage head as it moves back and forth to give you the percussions. Amplitude is always a critical feature for percussive therapy enthusiasts. A few millimetres less could knock you down into vibrational therapy territory.

Many massage gun brands struggle to impress here – especially the affordable devices tend to get it wrong here. What about the DynaSphere?

Well, this device has the advertised 13mm stroke length. It’s not something they use to sell this device, it’s real. Impressive!

Because this is the first Lifepro massage gun with an amplitude this long. 13mm is good enough for a deep percussive massage. It’s not Theragun’s or Achedaway’s 16mm, but it’s good enough. It’s actually pretty close to Hypervolt’s premier gun – BT Plus.

13mm will punch deep into the muscle and provide a percussive massage. This makes the DynaSphere a gem when you consider how much it costs.

What about the stall force?

Stall Force

Stall force is the pressure required to stall the motor of a device. Depending on how strong the motor is, it may take considerable pressure to stall it. The more pressure needed to stall it the better the device is at performing a deep percussive massage. Again, most cheap guns struggle to get enough power into their devices.

We have been itching to get our hands on the DynaSphere just to confirm if the 66lbs. of advertised stall force is real or overstated – we always suspected the latter.

Unsurprisingly (for us at least) the device doesn’t take all of 66lbs. to stall it. To put it into perspective, 66lbs. is more than Theragun Pro’s 60lbs. We always had doubts especially looking at the device’s 24W motor. Glad we could prove it!

Fortunately however, even though it’s overstated, the stall force feels like mid 40-ish. This is enough to hit even large muscle groups. It may not be the advertised 66lbs. which felt utopian, but 40s is good enough.

Plus, if you consider the more than enough 13mm amplitude, this is a serious device that can serve even demanding users. The stall force is progressive yes, but that also means you can have a delicate massage at lower speeds.

Percussions and Speed Levels

The DynaSphere has a percussion range of 1200-2800rpm. This is a pretty wide range and shows that we are dealing with a solid percussive device. For a device with 13mm amplitude, 2800 maximum percussions is expected although we have seen better devices.

The Achedaway Pro for example has a 16mm amplitude but still revs with 2800rpm maximum percussions. However, the wide range is a plus because you can go delicate on the lower speeds. Just for comparison, Theraguns start revving at 1750rpm, which may feel too intense for a start.

There are no fancy bells and whistles, no extra modes or speed gears with the DynaSphere. There are 6 speeds to cycle through and that’s it! There are LEDs to show which speed gear you are on as stated earlier.

Lifepro Dynasphere vs. Competition

Let’s see how the DynaSphere compares against it’s most popular competitors.

Battery

The battery on this device is juiced up to 2000mAh. This is somewhat below average because we are used to seeing many devices offer between 2400-2500mAh. But perhaps that’s why the device is not as heavy – 2.1lbs only.

Even so, we are not complaining because you can still get a decent amount of time on it. The advertised battery time is 3.5-7 hours per single charge. The 7 hours is probably overstated, but you should get somewhere between 3-5 hours of use per single charge. Maybe more if you don’t use too much pressure and also use the lowest speed. That still means you can get a few days on the battery.

It’s advisable to charge the battery for 4-5 hours before using it for the first time. The charging port is at the bottom of the handle – right at the base.

battery charging port lifepro dynasphere
The charging port at the bottom of the handle.

The LED indicators work as follows:

  • 6 LEDs lit – 100%,
  • 5 – 80%,
  • 4 – 60%,
  • 3 – 40%,
  • 2 – 20% and
  • 1 means < 5%

There is also an interesting tweak to things here. There is a USB port built in the handle. This doesn’t mean that you can charge the device via USB (would’ve been superb), but you can use the device’s battery as a power bank and use it to charge your phone, smartwatch and other stuff. This is pretty convenient for those always on the move.

Noise Level

The DynaSphere is not the quietest device out there. If you looked at Lifepro’s advertisement of how loud it can get, you would think it’s the quietest thing to walk the percussive halls. Unfortunately even this is overstated. That’s why we always have to get these devices and test them ourselves.

Despite Lifepro’s overstated 50-60dB, our measurements gave us 54dB at the lowest speed and between 70-71dB at the highest speed. This is not as quiet as it should be.

We know that devices with long amplitudes tend to be noisy, but we have seen quieter devices than the DynaSphere – the Achedaway Pro is a good example. There is a bit of rattling when the device is pressed against the body, but it’s not much of a bummer. Some vibrations transfer to the handle on higher speeds but nothing too critical.

Who is the DynaSphere Best For?

The DynaSphere is a pretty versatile device and will be a perfect personal device for athletes. It’s a great after-workout device and can be taken to the gym.

Amateur or home users on the hunt for a strong percussion massager will benefit from this device as well. Also, if you are looking for the best value for money and can’t choke up $300 for a Theragun or Hypervolt, then this is your device.

Chiropractors and professional therapists will have to look elsewhere because this device doesn’t have removable batteries. You also can’t use it when it’s plugged in.

Price, Warranty and Where to Buy?

It’s advisable to buy the device from Lifepro’s store where it is always in stock. You also get free and fast shipping.

The device usually costs $119.99 but you can use the coupon code MGA10 and get it here for 10% less, so only $107.99.

It has a lifetime warranty – it sounds simple enough, but this is one of Lifepro’s standout attributes. There is also a 30-day money back guarantee and superb customer support. However, for the warranty, don’t forget to register the device on Lifepro’s website after the purchase.

Lifepro DynaSphere Review Conclusion

As we wrap up this Lifepro DynaSphere review, it’s safe to say that Lifepro does it best when it comes to affordable massage guns.

With the DynaSphere, it’s not just the value for money, it’s also the great performance features. We loved it so much we included it as the top pick in our best massage gun under $100 list.

Sure it could’ve been quieter and slightly reduced in size, but there is more to like about this device than the few blemishes that can be ignored.

Lifepro DynaFlex Mini Review: The Rotating Massage Gun You Didn’t Know You Needed https://massagegunadvice.com/lifepro-dynaflex-mini-review/ https://massagegunadvice.com/lifepro-dynaflex-mini-review/#respond Tue, 09 Feb 2021 16:20:10 +0000 https://massagegunadvice.com/?p=2596 Welcome to yet another review on our little blog. This time, it’s the LifePro DynaFlex Mini review.

Why this one in particular? Well, we’ve been recently looking for a massage gun that give you a lot of power and flexibility, but at the same time is a relatively compact and easy to carry.

NOTE: Yes, this review of the DynaFlex MINI, which Lifepro discontinued in 2021. If you’ve been looking for the new DynaFlex (full-size version), please read our Lifepro DynaFlex review instead.

The LifePro DynaFlex Mini immediately caught our attention and we’ve decided to give it a try.

Before we dive deeper though, you should know that when we tried this massage gun, we had our reservations. It seemed like a bit of a lightweight, thus we didn’t expect it to deliver much on the power front.

And yet, we can confidently say you will be as surprised as we were when you try it out.

Hopefully, by the end, you’ll be willing to give it a try, of course with due consideration to all the shortcomings we point out as well.

Few Words About Lifepro Fitness

LifePro itself is a well established brand with a great reputation, and they have a pretty interesting story. The company was started by two friends who suffered from ACL injuries within months of each other.

They had a hard time finding the right products to help them with their recovery, so they did what every entrepreneurial person does when they encounter a problem for which there seems to be no readily available solution: they created their own solution.

Well, they did the rest of the world a favor, because they have been producing high quality materials ever since.

Their products are not only of sufficiently high quality to rival even their most expensive rivals (think Hypervolt and Theragun), but they are also pretty affordable.

Furthermore, no other brand has so many products in their line-up. As of this writing, LifePro has 15 distinct massage gun models. How’s that for being prolific!

And now, without further ado, let’s get started!

First Impressions

Right off the bat, this is a beautiful massage gun. It has a nice sleek design and is very compact. It’s just 7.1 inches long and weighs just 1.4 lbs.!

Interestingly, this is so small that it’s smaller than your average percussion massager. Even more interesting than that is the fact that LifePro has even smaller models than this, meant to be portable for travel, such as LifePro DynaMini.

The one we got is blue in color, with a black base and massage head holder.

On the side of the joint is the LifePro logo, that recognizable Play symbol, set against a blue background with a black border.

The power button is also black, adding some much-needed contrast to the whole design.

The handle also has some ribbing to give it grip.

Speaking of the design, it’s rounded and cylindrical, making it look sleek and smooth. We were quite pleased with it.

The first thing you notice when you unbox the DynaFlex is that it comes with a black case.

The case is also very well made, and holds the gun, its heads, and the instruction manual in a pocket on the side. The instructions are particularly helpful, with pictures of the attachments and what they are used for.

On the side side is the power button. This button plays a dual role. On the one hand you can use it to turn the gun on or off by pressing and holding it.

On the other, you can use it to cycle through the different speed levels on the massage gun, of which there are 3. It’s pretty nifty, as it puts everything in one convenient place.

The speeds are more than good enough for most purposes but let us not get ahead of ourselves. We’ll talk about those in just a bit.

On the base at the bottom is a series of indicators to tell you the battery level. Pay special attention to these, as they give you an idea of how much power is left in the battery.

Since it’s a lithium ion battery (Li-ion), our advice is to recharge every time it reaches the same level, whichever you choose, and not to let it drain below that before you charge it. This will help the battery drain more consistently, which will maximize on its lifespan.

The Heads

The DynaFlex mini comes with 6 different interchangeable heads, which is a smart move, as most massage guns these days come with only 4 or 5 of them. More is better.

6 different heads included with the Lifepro DynaFlex Mini

In case you’ve been wondering what each attachments is best for, here’s a quick advice:

  • The first two are round ball heads.
These are pretty common among massage guns and are used for the least intense sessions.
Basically, if you wake up feeling a little sore or just want to use the massage gun for how good it feels on your muscles, then these are the balls to go to. The large one is more general while the smaller one is for those areas where the large one would be ineffective, or that are a little harder to reach.
Something we like about these heads is that they are spongy and absorbent. They are not made or molded plastic and compress well under pressure, making them super comfortable to use.
  • The second head is the flat head.
Flat head massage tips are commonly used for deep tissue massage. These have a wide surface area so they can spread out the force and, when used with high speed settings, get to the most problematic knots and even them out.
The one on the DynaFlex Mini has little texture protrusions that make it even more effective at reaching deep knots.
  • Next in line is the spinal tip.
The one on the DynaFlex Mini is more y-shaped. Normally, spinal tips are shaped like football goal posts, with an equal distance between the prongs. The one that comes with the DynaFlex Mini is y-shaped, so the prongs meet in the middle.
There is a reason for this. Apart from being used on your spine and neck, the spinal tip can also be used in a variety of other problem areas, including your peri-spinal muscles and the side of your thigh. This kind of versatility is what made us fall in love with the DynaFlex Mini, to be honest.
  • Finally, there are two more unique tips: metallic heads.
Now, it’s not every day you come across a massage gun that has metallic heads, and it’s forgivable to wonder what they’re useful for. Well, the brand points out that the metallic heads, one of which is flat and the other bell-shaped, are excellent for applying ointments or topical analgesics on the skin.
Say you want to apply some Deep Heat or Deep Freeze and want to massage it all over your body: the metal heads will do the job just fine. The main difference in the heads, where one is flatter than the other, is simply to allow for deeper tissue massages.

Overall the metal heads really impressed us and we thought they were a big plus.

Power and Performance

When it comes to the power of a massage gun, there are three main things that matter:

  • the percussions per minute, usually measures in RPM (revolutions per minute) since they track the number of revolutions the motor make;
  • the stall force with which the massage tip hits a target surface, which is measured in pounds;
  • the amplitude or stroke length, which is simply the length traveled by the massage tip as it vibrates;

The DynaFlex Mini is something of an anomaly on both of these fronts.

On the one hand, this massage gun is pretty powerful when you take its size into consideration. It packs a full 45 lbs. of stall force. That is more than many massage guns that are much larger, and at par with your average Theragun.

What’s more, it can achieve percussions as high as 2450 percussions per minute, which is slightly more than all Theraguns, which go up to 2400 percussions per minute. That means that this massage gun is a lean mean massaging machine capable of providing deep tissue therapy.

On the other hand, the amplitude on the DynaFlex Mini is surprisingly low at 9mm. This is below the 12mm for most massage guns on the market, including other LifePro devices.

We thought a little about it and concluded that this must have been deliberate. How else could they have packed 45 lbs. of stall force and 2400 percussions per minute into such a small massage gun?

The only way they would have made it feasible from an engineering perspective is by reducing the amplitude. Overall, it’s a bit of a weird set of parameters, but the massage gun does its job very well in practice.

The DynaFlex Mini also comes with 3 different speeds of 30 Hz, 40 Hz, and 50 Hz. These speeds cover pretty much most of the intensity you will need for everything from a shallow to a deep massage.

Rotating Arm

Another interesting performance feature is the massage arm’s rotating capability. This is pretty unique for a massage gun, as we haven’t seen it with any other model.

The arm is capable of rotating a full 90 degrees for extended reach. This is pretty cool as it allows you to massage the hardest to reach areas.

Now, the adjustability is a great feature, but it’s a pity that it can’t be locked. That makes it more of an inconvenience sometimes.

For example, when you apply too much pressure, the arm will change its position, which can get frustrating. We hope LifePro will add a locking mechanism to fix the position in a future release.

Noise

The advertised noise limit for this massage gun is 50 dB, and indeed it’s a quiet device. Not silent, but pretty quiet for a massage gun.

What we were happy to find out is that it never even begins to exceed that limit. In practice the noise is more in the range of 35 dB to 48-50 dB.

Battery

As mentioned earlier, the DynaFlex Mini comes with 2000 mAh lithium ion batteries. Depending on the speed you use, the batteries can last anywhere from 2 to 5 hours and take between 3 and 5 hours to charge.

It comes with an A/C adapter, which is great, but we still wish it had a USB/USB-C charger. We’ve wished that for many massage guns now. There’s nothing we’d want for Christmas more than a massage gun with a USB/USB-C charger.

Price

Here’s the best part – this is a very affordable massage gun. It costs a mere $79.99. It makes it an incredible value for money massage gun, given what you’re getting: a mini-sized, powerful, adjustable massage gun from a reputable brand.

What’s more, when you visit the product page and decide to buy the DynaFlex Mini, you’ll be able to apply the MGA10” coupon and claim an extra -10% discount, so that the final price will be $71.99.

What’s more, it comes with a lifetime warranty, like in all LifePro products!

Can’t go wrong with this one.

LifePro DynaFlex Mini vs. Theragun Mini

Let’s briefly discuss Lifepro DynaFlex Mini vs Theragun Mini, which is the closest analogue among Theragun’s products.

Unfortunately, the Theragun Mini, while costing a lot, isn’t adjustable, has only 20 lbs. of stall and 2.5 hours of battery life. The only place it beats the DynaFlex Mini is the 12mm amplitude which, to be honest, won’t make a big difference with only 20 lbs of pressure needed to stall the device.

To sum up, the Theragun Mini has overall weaker specs, so unless you’re buying for the Theragun brand, you really can’t go wrong with this LifePro.

It beats the Theragun Mini in almost every aspect and offers a lifetime warranty.

LifePro DynaFlex Mini vs. Hypervolt Go

How About comparison between LifePro DynaFlex Mini vs Hypervolt Go2? Well, to keep it to the point, let’s just say that the Hypervolt Go 2 has about 15-20 lbs. of stall force, 10mm amplitude, and 2.5 hours of battery life.

It also retails for $199, which makes it almost three times more expensive than the LifePro Dynaflex Mini (if you take the extra -10% discount into account when using the ‘MGA10′ coupon).

Again, unless you’re buying for the Hyperice brand, you’re better off with the DynaFlex Mini as it offers significantly better value for money.

Recommended Alternative

Ekrin Bantam - Best Mini Massage Gun of 2023

Ekrin Bantam

If you need a good alternative, let us recommend you this one.

The Ekrin Bantam is slightly more expensive than the DynaFlex Mini. Even with the ‘MGA20′ coupon it costs $119.99.

That said, it’s not nearly as expensive as the Theragun Mini or Hypervolt Go.

It’s also not as powerful as the DynaFlex Mini, with just 35 lbs. of stall force. It does, however, have higher amplitude (10mm) and is capable of going up to 3200 percussions per minute. We say it’s a bit of a different value proposition here.

It’s also slightly lighter, making it very compact and convenient to use. That said, it comes with 4 attachments, which is 2 fewer than the LifePro.

Finally, it has excellent quality and also comes with a lifetime guarantee, just like the LifePro.

Check out the Ekrin Bantam right here.

Bottom Line

And with that we come to the end of our LifePro DynaFlex Mini review.

As you can see, this massage gun offers an incredible value proposition that we think anyone will appreciate.

While it’s true that the 9mm amplitude is on the lower end on what other competitive devices can offer, its more than average stall force makes it powerful enough to dig into deep muscles

Its compact size, clever ergonomics and overall great features, at this price point, make it a real bargain.

Until next time, happy massaging!
