At roughly $50, it looks like a budget win. It is not.

The amplitude measured 6.27mm on our calipers, stall force tops out at around 15 lbs, and the internal build quality is poor enough that a component broke during disassembly. There are better options at the same price.

Our testing impressions:

  • Measured 6.27mm amplitude
  • Stall force we estimated 15 lbs at top speed
  • Weak performance for a full-size massage gun
  • Measured top speed of 2,800 RPM vs 3,200 RPM advertised
  • Narrow percussion range; we verified it: 2,150 – 2,880 RPM
  • 6 speeds; too many for such a narrow percussion range
  • Weighs 1.8 lbs, which is good for handling
  • Battery life at medium load is between 70 and 85 minutes

Unboxing and Hands-On Video

Below, you can watch our hands-on video review of FitRx. We show you what’s included, how it looks, and how this massage gun performs.

Inmediate observations: – it’s a bit weak on the power side and stalls pretty easily, no matter the speed. Still, don’t just take our word for it; give the video a watch for some real-life action. It’s right below.

First Impressions

The FitRX ships in a hard carrying case; a reasonable start for a sub-$50 device. The case is one of the few things here that does not immediately signal budget construction.

The gun itself is full matte black and noticeably large. It is bigger than several mid-range full-size devices we have tested, which raised expectations. Those expectations did not last. The plastic housing feels thin and hollow. Shaking the device side to side produced an audible rattle (something was loose inside before we even switched it on).

The single control button sits at the base of the handle rather than on the body, which is an unusual placement for a full-size massage gun and makes one-handed operation awkward. The click of the button is cheap and imprecise.

The USB-C charging port is a genuine plus at this price point, and the angled handle — similar in concept to higher-end designs — does reduce wrist strain when reaching the lower back. These are the two bright spots. The rest of the first impression is negative.

Build Quality and Internal Construction

Curiosity about the weight-to-size ratio — 1.8 lbs for a gun this large is light — led us to disassemble the FitRX to see what is inside.

The interior explains the weight. The chassis is mostly hollow. The motor is small, the battery is compact (2,000 mAh, smaller than many mini massage guns), and there are no anti-vibration pads or soundproofing of any kind. The mechanism transferring motor movement to the massage head is entirely plastic, including the motor’s attachment to the body.

One component broke during disassembly. This was not rough handling — it was the kind of failure that suggests the internal tolerances are tight enough that normal stress over time will produce the same result.

The construction tells you what the performance data later confirms: this device was built to a price, and that price was low.

Ergonomics and Size

The FitRX is larger than most devices in its price category and heavier than its hollow construction might suggest for its footprint. The angled handle is the standout ergonomic feature; it adds usable reach when targeting the lower back without requiring the wrist to compensate.

The rubber grip in the mid-handle section provides adequate control, though it does not extend far enough up the body to be useful across all holding positions.

The handle placement and angle are genuinely well-considered for a budget device. If ergonomics were the only criterion, this would be a reasonable choice.

FitRX Controls

A single button at the base of the handle manages all functions: long-press to power on, short-press to cycle through six speeds. A basic LED indicates the current speed setting.

There is no display, no app connectivity, and no smart battery management, consistent with what we found inside.

The placement at the handle base is the main issue. On a full-size gun, most users hold the body while the massage head works a muscle.

Adjusting speed mid-session requires repositioning the hand to reach the button, which interrupts the treatment. It is a minor but persistent annoyance.

Performance

Amplitude

Amplitude measures the stroke length of the massage head — how far it travels with each percussive hit. It is the primary indicator of how deep a device can work into muscle tissue. Our caliper confirmed 6.27mm on the FitRX.

That figure is in the range typically seen in mini massage guns. In a full-size chassis, it is the lowest amplitude we have recorded.

At 6.27mm, the percussive sensation is shallow. On larger muscle groups — quads, hamstrings, upper back — the hits do not reach deep enough to produce meaningful tissue response. What you feel is closer to surface vibration than percussion. For light use on the neck, shoulders, or feet, this is tolerable. For anything requiring genuine muscular penetration, the ceiling is reached immediately.

The image shows our digital caliper measuring an amplitude of 6.27mm on the FitRx massage gun
This short 6.27 mm measured amplitude places the FitRX within most mini massage gun amplitude range.

Stall Force

Stall force measures the pressure a massage gun sustains before the motor slows or stops. It determines whether you can lean into a muscle or whether the device gives up the moment it meets resistance.

The FitRX stalled at approximately 15 lbs across all six speed settings. On Speed 1, the motor slows under light palm pressure. On Speed 6, the drop-off point is slightly higher, but the device still stalls well below what is needed for work on the glutes, hamstrings, or upper back.

When I used it on my quads and glutes, those large muscles can’t recover with gentle superficial vibrations. To reach those deep muscles, one has to press the massager harder, which, in this case, made the FitRX stall immediately, even at the top speed.

For reference, mini massage guns in the same price range typically sustain 20–25 lbs, and some more expensive models actually reach 35 lbs. The FitRX, in a larger body, delivers less than either.

Percussion Speed

The FitRX is rated to 3,200 RPM. Our testing recorded 2,150–2,880 RPM across the full speed range. The device does not reach its advertised ceiling.

This matters because high RPM can partially compensate for low amplitude: if a gun cannot hit deep, hitting fast can still produce a useful surface-level effect. At under 2,900 RPM, the FitRX does not reach the threshold where that trade-off works. The result is a device that is shallow and slow, neither parameter rescues the other.

For neck tension, shoulder stiffness, and circulation, the RPM range is functional. For structured recovery work on large muscle groups, it is not.

Noise

We measured 59–68 dB across the speed range. This is louder than expected for a device with 6.27mm amplitude — shorter stroke lengths typically produce less mechanical noise, not more.

The source is the interior construction. With no anti-vibration pads and a largely hollow chassis, motor vibration transfers directly to the housing. The result is a rattling, mechanical sound disproportionate to what the device is actually doing.

At higher speeds, the noise is more tractor-like than the smooth hum of a well-insulated motor.

If noise matters in your environment — early morning, shared space, office — this device will be noticeable.

Attachments

Four attachments are included: a foam ball head, a fork head, a bullet head, and a flat head.

The foam ball is the most used attachment for general work and functions adequately. The fork and bullet heads are standard and serviceable for their intended purposes: muscles along the spine and trigger point work, respectively.

The flat head is undersized for a full-size device. Its diameter is closer to what you would find in a mini gun, and covers insufficient surface area to be useful on larger muscle groups like the quads or upper back.

A soft tissue or dampener attachment is not included. Given the device’s noise and vibration profile, this is a notable omission — a dampener head would have been more practical in a sensitive-area.

Fitrx Massage Gun: all 4 Attachments displayed beside the muscle massager

Battery

The 2,000 mAh battery is smaller than most devices in this category, including several mini massage guns.

During our tests performed over several days with 20-minute daily sessions on different muscle groups, and at a medium-load. The compounded time recorded for 2 different tests was close to 70 minutes and 85 minutes, respectively. The variation in the results is the intensity required for larger muscles treated in one occassion.

USB-C charging is a genuine positive and one of the few specifications that meet current expectations at any price point.

Given the internal build quality observed during disassembly, long-term battery performance is difficult to predict with confidence.

Who This Work For

The FitRX has a narrow but real use case. If you need light surface treatment for neck tension, shoulder stiffness, or sore feet, and you are not expecting the device to do deep tissue work on large muscle groups, it will function at a basic level. The ergonomics are reasonable, the carrying case is a useful addition, and USB-C charging is convenient.

Who Should Skip This

Anyone whose primary use involves deep-tissue work on large muscle groups (quads, hamstrings, glutes, upper back) will find this device inadequate.

At 6.27mm amplitude and 15 lbs stall force, it cannot deliver the pressure or depth those muscles require. The noise level also makes it unsuitable for quiet environments. At $50, there are alternatives that perform meaningfully better on every metric that matters for serious muscle recovery.

Price and Warranty

Available at approximately $50 from Walmart, Macy’s, Amazon, and other major retailers. One-year warranty from Tzumi.

The price is FitRX’s main argument. It does not hold up against comparably priced alternatives once you compare stall force, amplitude, and build quality side by side.

Better Alternatives to FitRX

The FitRX sits at the bottom of the market on every performance metric that matters. If your budget is tight but you need a device that can actually do the job, our best value massage gun guide ranks options that outperform it without a significant price jump — all tested using the same methodology as this review.

If you are open to a mini massage gun, the best mini massage gun guide is worth a look, too. Several of the devices there outperform the FitRX in stall force and amplitude despite being smaller and similarly priced.

Summary

The FitRX is not a starting point for massage gun ownership; it is a device that will leave most users underwhelmed and likely shopping for a replacement within months.

The amplitude is mini-gun territory in a full-size chassis, the stall force is the lowest we have recorded in this size category, the internal construction is fragile, and the noise is inconsistent with a device doing so little mechanical work.

It exists at the bottom of the market because the components reflect that position. At a slightly higher price, there are devices that do the job this one cannot.

Hypervolt Go2 Review: *our estimate, **our measurement

Our Take On the Hypervolt Go 2 Review

The Hypervolt Go 2 is a compact massage gun built around a 10mm amplitude and approximately 10 to 15 lbs of stall force. It runs at 2200 to 3200 RPM on three speed levels in a redesigned body that weighs 1.57 lbs. It is larger than most devices marketed as mini massage guns.

The biggest limitation of this hypervolt is the stall force. The motor slows noticeably with even moderate pressure. On paper, 10mm amplitude and 3200 RPM sounds good. In practice, you cannot really take advantage of that top speed if the motor stalls as soon as you lean in. It works best with a lighter touch, which limits effectiveness on larger muscle groups like quads and hamstrings.

Noise is where this device stands out compared with some of the quieter massage guns we have tested. At 45 to 55 dB, it is quiet enough to use in shared spaces without drawing attention. The angled handle also makes longer sessions more comfortable. You only get two attachments, which feels minimal for the category. There is no carrying case, no Bluetooth, and no connection to the Hyperice app.

If you already own a full-size Hypervolt and want something smaller that shares attachments, this makes sense. If you are buying it as a standalone device, the low stall force will likely be the main drawback. If you’re looking at several compact options before deciding, it helps to see how the different models compare across the mini category.

Unboxing, Build Quality, and First Impressions

Compared to the original model, Hyperice removed the international wall adapter system. You now get a USB-C cable, which feels more modern, though you still need your own wall adapter to plug it in.

The device comes in an Arctic gray finish, replacing the older black and dull gray versions. The plastic housing feels solid, and the matte texture does a good job of resisting fingerprints. The rubberized grip sections on the handle add some welcome texture.

No carrying case or pouch is included. That feels like a miss at this price point. Still, the overall build feels sturdy and well put together.

Build Quality & Design Improvements

Let’s take a look at the build and design of this model.

Frame and Grip Design

The angled handle is a smart design choice. It helps reduce wrist fatigue and feels more natural than a straight T-shaped handle during longer sessions.

The handle is slightly thicker than newer full-size Hypervolt models. If you have smaller hands, you may notice that during extended use.

Weight and Balance

At 1.57 lbs, the Go 2 is heavier than most devices in the mini category. Its dimensions of 6.7 x 7.3 x 2.0 inches put it somewhere between a true mini and a compact full-size device.

Materials and Build Quality

The arctic gray matte plastic looks clean and feels durable. The rubber grip zones add control without making it bulky.

Controls have moved to the back panel instead of the old trigger-style placement. This reduces accidental activation and keeps the design consistent with the rest of the Hypervolt lineup. Three LED lights on the back show the current speed level.

Hypervolt Go 2 Mini Massage Gun Attachments

The Hypervolt Go 2 mini massage comes with two heads: a flat head and a bullet head. Both are firm. There are no softer options included, which limits versatility if you prefer a gentler feel. The material feels durable and matches the Arctic gray body.

Attachment Compatibility

All attachments work with full-size Hypervolt 2 and 2 Pro models. If you already own other Hyperice devices, this shared system is a real benefit.

If this is your only Hypervolt, the two included attachments may feel limiting.

Heated Head Accessory

Hyperice introduced a heated attachment in September 2023 that works with all Hypervolt models, including the Go 2. It has its own internal battery and controls and heats up to 120°F across three levels.

The attachment weighs 0.22 lbs and sells separately for 59 dollars. It is only available in black, so it does not match the Arctic gray finish of the Go 2.

Controls and Display

A single button on the back panel controls all functions. Press to cycle through the three speed levels in sequence. A long press powers the device on or off.

There are no extra buttons and no confusion during use. The back panel placement also makes accidental presses unlikely.

Three LED lights indicate the current speed. There is no LCD screen, no pressure sensor, and no advanced display.

The LEDs are clear enough to show which speed you are on, and the placement is better than the older under-handle lights from the original Go.

Our Test Data and Performance

Percussion Depth and Pressure

We measured 9.98mm amplitude with a digital caliper, confirming the advertised 10mm spec. That places it squarely in the mid-range for compact devices compared with massage guns designed to deliver deeper percussion and stronger muscle treatment.

Stall force came in around 10 to 15 lbs in our testing. Hyperice does not publish a stall force number, so we measured it ourselves. At the lowest speed, the motor stalled at roughly 10 lbs of pressure. At the highest speed, about 15 lbs was enough to stop it.

Hypervolt go 2 amplitude Measured

Stall Force

It works fine when you glide lightly over the muscle. But larger muscle groups like the quads, hamstrings, and glutes expose the limitation quickly. The motor slows or stalls when you try to press in. Some compact devices manage noticeably more resistance to pressure while staying travel-friendly, such as Theragun’s Mini model, which prioritises a longer stroke length, or the Bantam compact massage gun, which maintains percussion more consistently under pressure. That makes the 3200 RPM top speed harder to use in practice.

However, there is an auto-pressure feature that senses when the force applied is high and can potentially stall the motor. To avoid stalling, its speed automatically increases to the next level and returns to its initial speed when the force is removed.

Smaller muscle groups, such as arms, neck, hands, and upper back, are a better fit. They require less pressure, so the motor can keep up. The firm attachments are less ideal for detailed or sensitive areas.

Speed Range and Control

We measured 2200 RPM at low, 2700 RPM at mid, and 3200 RPM at high using a laser tachometer. That matches the advertised specs.

The three speeds are spaced reasonably well, and transitions feel smooth when cycling through them.

Noise Level

We recorded 45 dB at the lowest speed and 55 dB at the maximum speed. That is genuinely quiet for a compact massage gun and easily the strongest performance point here.

The sound is smooth without harsh mechanical noise. At the highest speed, some vibration transfers into your hand, but it stays manageable.

Battery Life

The 2500 mAh battery gave us about 1.5 to 2 hours of runtime with mixed speeds and moderate pressure. The advertised 3 hours would likely require continuous low-speed use without applying real pressure.

Battery capacity increased slightly from the original Go, which helps explain the added weight and slightly larger body.

Charging is done with USB-C. You still need your own wall adapter. A full charge from empty takes about 3 hours.

An LED ring on the handle shows battery status through color. Red means low. Green means full or close to full.

hypervolt go 2 charger with international plugs

Bluetooth and App

The Go 2 does not include Bluetooth. The Hyperice app offers routines and guided sessions, but only for devices that can sync with it. The Go 2 cannot connect, so you will not get tracking or guided integration.

You can still view routines in the app manually, but the device itself operates completely independently.

Who Should Buy it?

The Go 2 makes the most sense for people who already own Hypervolt 2 or 2 Pro devices and want attachment compatibility in a smaller format. The shared accessories add practical value if you are already in the Hyperice ecosystem.

If quiet operation is a top priority, the 45 to 55 dB output is a strong selling point, especially for shared spaces like offices or hotel rooms.

Who Should Skip it?

If applying firm pressure is important to you, this is probably not the right fit. A stall force of 10 to 15 lbs is not enough for deep, sustained muscle work. A stronger full-size massage gun designed for deeper muscle recovery will generally maintain percussion under heavier pressure.

If you want something truly ultra-light and compact, the 1.57 lb weight and 6.7 x 7.3 x 2.0 inch size may feel larger than expected.

hypervolt go2 massager and accessories

Final Verdict

The Hypervolt Go 2 brings only minor changes over the original Go. You get relocated controls, a new Arctic gray finish, and a slightly larger battery. Performance specs are otherwise the same, and the very low stall force remains the biggest limitation.

Where it really stands out is noise. The 45 to 55 dB output with a smooth sound profile is impressive. Beyond that, performance sits at or slightly below the typical standard for mini massage guns in this price range.

If attachment compatibility and quiet operation matter most, it is a reasonable option. If you want stronger pressure in a compact format, you may want to look elsewhere.

Our Take

The Theragun Elite is a full-size massage gun built around 16mm amplitude and roughly 40 lbs of stall force. It delivers 1750 to 2400 RPM through five speed levels and includes an OLED screen, Bluetooth connectivity, and app integration inside Therabody’s signature triangular frame.

In day-to-day use, the 40 lbs stall force handles general recovery and moderate pressure without issue. Where it shows limits is on larger muscle groups like the glutes and hamstrings. If you apply the kind of pressure those areas typically need, the motor starts to slow. The 16mm stroke gives you real depth, but only if the motor can maintain speed under load.

The OLED screen, force meter, and ability to store routines are features you will not find on entry-level models like Therabody’s Prime Plus model, which focuses more on core performance than connected features. They add real value, especially if you are learning how much pressure to apply. Five attachments cover most use cases, although the dampener and standard ball head feel close enough that one could have been replaced with something more distinct.

If you are already using products from Therabody and want mid-tier performance with app support, the Elite fits well. If your main focus is maximum motor strength for the price, 40 lbs may feel limiting. If you’re comparing it with other full-size devices across different price tiers, it helps to see how the strongest massage guns we’ve tested compare across the category.

Unboxing, Build Quality, and First Impressions

The Elite arrives in a sturdy, textured carrying case. It feels like a step up from the soft pouches included with lower-tier models and holds up well for travel.

Inside the case, the device sits in the center with five attachments stored in sewn-in side pouches. The layout relies on pouches rather than molded cutouts, but everything stays secure. The triangular frame design is instantly recognizable.

We tested the white version, though black and Product RED versions are also available. Overall build quality feels solid, with smooth plastic on the interior and rubberized sections where it matters most. A blue ring on the arm identifies it as the Elite within the lineup.

Build Quality & Design Improvements

Let’s take a look at the build and design of this model.

Frame and Grip Design

The triangular frame is one of the Elite’s biggest strengths. It gives you several grip options, which help reduce wrist strain and make it easier to reach different muscle groups without awkward repositioning.

The outer handle has some rubberized coverage, while the inner surfaces are smooth plastic. Adding more rubber to the interior sections would improve grip security during firm pressure.

Weight and Balance

At 2.2 lbs, the Elite falls within the typical range for full-size massage guns. Its dimensions of 9.5 x 6.7 x 2.8 inches make it slightly larger than the Prime. The weight is distributed well, and it feels balanced across different grip positions.

Materials and Build Quality

The housing combines glossy and matte surfaces. It feels durable, with no rattling or flex during use. Buttons are positioned so they remain accessible regardless of how you are holding the device.

Theragun Elite Massage Gun Attachments

The Elite includes five heads: dampener, standard ball, thumb, cone, and wedge. All are made from durable rubber rather than foam, which should hold up better over time.

The dampener is the softest option. The cone delivers the most focused and aggressive contact for trigger points.

five attachments theragun elite

Standout Attachments

The wedge head stands out the most. It works well for scraping style movements along the shoulder blades and IT bands. This attachment is not included with the Prime.

The cone head is excellent for smaller areas like hands and feet, where precise pressure is needed.

Attachment System

Attachments use a push-pull system reinforced by two metal ball bearings. You feel a firm click when they lock into place. It feels secure and should wear better than plastic-only systems.

All attachments are compatible across Therabody’s 4th and 5th-generation devices, which is useful if you own more than one model.

The dampener and standard ball head feel very similar in practice. Swapping one for a fork or flat head would have expanded the range more meaningfully.

Additional accessories, such as the Supersoft head and Duo Adapter, are sold separately.

Controls and Display

Four buttons control everything. A long press powers the device on or off. The plus and minus buttons adjust speed. The angle bracket buttons cycle through up to three saved routines.

Once you get used to the layout, it feels intuitive. The controls stay within reach in most grip positions, which is important for a device designed to be held multiple ways.

OLED Display

The OLED screen shows speed, battery level, and applied force through a bar graph. This is a noticeable upgrade over LED-only indicators found on simpler models.

The force meter is particularly helpful when treating someone else, since you can see how much pressure you are applying in real time. For solo use, it is helpful but requires you to glance at the screen during your session.

Custom Routines

You can store up to three custom routines directly on the device. These can include different speeds and durations. Once saved, they can be accessed without opening the app.

This is convenient if you have a go-to routine and do not want to adjust settings manually each time.

Our Test Data and Performance

Percussion Depth and Pressure

We measured the full 16mm amplitude, confirming the advertised specification. That puts the Elite firmly in the high-amplitude category alongside devices designed for deeper stroke lengths for aggressive muscle treatment.

Stall force reached about 40 lbs at top speed in our testing. Lower speeds stall more easily, while the highest speed resists more pressure before slowing.

At 40 lbs, it handles most general recovery work comfortably. On dense, well-developed muscle groups, though, it begins to slow under the pressure needed for deeper work.

Theragun Elite Measured 16mm Amplitude massage gun

Stall Force

The 16mm stroke makes a noticeable difference on calves, shoulders, and arms. In these areas, the motor maintains speed, and you get satisfying depth.

Glutes and upper hamstrings reveal the limit more quickly. If you press firmly, the motor hesitates. Some higher-powered devices maintain speed under heavier pressure, such as the D6 Pro model built specifically for high stall force and deeper tissue work. In practical terms, it works best when the pressure you apply matches what the motor can sustain.

For lighter recovery sessions and smaller muscle groups, it performs consistently well.

Speed Range and Control

We measured 1800 RPM at the lowest speed and 2400 RPM at maximum. The five levels run 1800, 1900, 2100, 2200, and 2400 RPM, matching advertised specs.

Starting at 1750 RPM makes initial contact more comfortable before increasing intensity. Five levels feel like a good balance without being excessive.

Noise Level

We recorded between 60 and 67 dB. The sound is smoother than some lower-tier models, but it is not nearly silent.

Given the premium price, some users may expect quieter operation based on the marketing language. If low noise is an important factor during recovery sessions, it may help to look at some of the quieter massage guns we have tested. In reality, it is clearly audible during use.

Battery Life

Therabody advertises 2 hours of runtime. Our testing confirmed roughly 2 hours with mixed speeds and moderate pressure. Continuous high speed or heavy pressure shortens that.

For typical 10 to 20 minute sessions, battery life is more than sufficient.

The Elite uses a dedicated wall charger with an optional international adapter. There is no USB-C option.

The battery is not removable, unlike the Pro model. You cannot swap in a spare battery, and the device does not operate while plugged in.

Bluetooth and App

The Elite connects via Bluetooth to the Therabody app on iOS and Android. The app offers guided routines, custom intensity control, and real-time pressure feedback.

Guided programs adjust speed and intensity automatically as you move through a routine. This is especially helpful if you are new to massage guns and want structured sessions.

You can save up to three favorite routines directly to the device, so you do not need an active connection during every session.

Who Should Buy it?

The Elite is a good fit for users who want app connectivity, an OLED screen, and compatibility with attachments within the Therabody lineup. If you already own another Theragun or plan to build within that ecosystem, the shared accessories and app integration add practical value. It sits in the middle of the lineup, offering more features than the Prime without stepping up to the size and price of Therabody’s top-tier models.

Newer users who want guided instruction will likely benefit from the structured routines in the app.

Who Should Skip it?

If your top priority is maximum stall force for deep, heavy pressure work, the 40 lbs limit may feel restrictive.

If quiet operation is critical, keep in mind the 60 to 67 dB noise range. If portability matters more than full-size power, compact massage guns designed specifically for travel and lighter recovery may be a better fit. It is not excessively loud, but it is not whisper-quiet either.

Final Verdict

The Theragun Elite sits comfortably in the mid-tier. It truly delivers 16mm amplitude, an OLED display with a force meter, app integration, and a versatile triangular frame. It improves on entry-level models with added features and moderate increases in motor strength.

The main limitation is that 40 lbs of stall force prevents you from fully taking advantage of the 16mm stroke on large, dense muscle groups.

If you value guided sessions, attachment compatibility, and smart features, it makes sense. If your focus is raw motor power above all else, the stall force will be the deciding factor.

Our Take

The Ekrin B37 is a mid-amplitude massage gun built around a 12mm stroke length and 56 lbs of stall force. It runs from 1400 to 3200 RPM on five speed levels and does not slow down when you press into the muscle.

The 15-degree angled handle is more than a design detail. It reduces wrist strain compared to straight T-shaped handles. During 10 to 15-minute sessions, we did not experience the usual wrist fatigue that comes from twisting your arm into awkward positions to reach different muscle groups.

There is no Bluetooth, no LCD display, and no app integration. The handle also feels slightly thick for users with smaller hands. Those are real trade-offs to consider. On the other hand, the 5 to 6-hour battery life is excellent, and the Samsung battery cell gives extra confidence that the performance will hold up over time.

If you care more about consistent physical performance than connected features or brand ecosystems, the B37 is a strong, well-priced option backed by a lifetime warranty. If you’re comparing it against other top-rated models, it also helps to see how the strongest massage guns we’ve tested compare across the category.

Our Deep Honest Ekrin B37 Massage Gun Review

[wp-review id=”3258″]

Unboxing, Build Quality, and First Impressions

The B37 arrives in a hard-shell carrying case with dual zippers and neatly organized compartments. The case feels sturdy and protective, which is a noticeable upgrade over the soft pouches that often come with devices in this range.

Inside the case, you will find the massage gun, four attachments secured in designated slots, a charging cable, a user manual, and an Ekrin logo sticker. The manual is 86 pages long with illustrations and practical guidance on attachment use and general percussion therapy basics.

The device itself looks polished. The satin black finish gives it a more premium appearance than the price suggests. In hand, it feels solid and well-built, without the flex or soft plastic feel that shows up in lower-cost models.

Build Quality & Design Improvements

Let’s take a look at the build and design of this model.

Frame and Grip Design

Ekrin’s 15-degree angled handle makes a difference almost immediately. It reduces wrist strain during sessions and makes it easier to reach different muscle groups without contorting your arm.

The angled shape also allows for a comfortable two-handed grip thanks to a small extension at the top of the handle. This comes in handy when treating someone else or when applying firm pressure that requires extra stability.

Weight and Balance

At 2.2 lbs, the B37 sits comfortably in the middle of the full-size weight range. It does not feel heavy during normal session lengths.

Balance feels neutral from different grip positions. While the motor and Samsung battery likely account for most of the internal weight, the distribution avoids a top-heavy feel and does not cause unnecessary fatigue.

Materials and Build Quality

The housing uses quality plastic with a satin black finish and silicone rubber grip sections on the handle. There are no metal accents or premium overlays, but the construction feels durable and consistent throughout.

The handle diameter is slightly large. Our testers with smaller hands noticed this more than others. The textured silicone helps prevent slipping, but users with shorter fingers should take this into account.

Across multiple sessions under sustained pressure, we noticed no rattling, creaking, or vibration transfer to the handle.

Ekrin B37 Massage Gun Attachments

Four attachments come with the B37: a ball head, bullet head, flat head, and fork head. The selection covers most standard recovery needs without venturing into specialty territory.

Ekrin B37 With Attachment Heads

The ball head uses high-quality EVA foam that feels smoother and more durable than the foam used in many lower-cost devices. The fork and bullet heads are made from hard plastic and have shown minimal wear after six months of regular use.

Attachment System

Attachments use a push-and-pull system. The fork head has directional guidance, while the other three can be inserted in any orientation. Installation is simple, though our smaller-handed testers needed slightly more effort when removing them.

During sessions, attachments stayed secure with no wobbling or loosening under pressure.

Standout Attachments

The flat head ended up being our most-used attachment. Its firm plastic construction works well across large muscle groups like pecs, glutes, and calves. It keeps its shape under pressure and spreads force effectively across a wider surface area.

The fork head includes a small guide notch that prevents it from rotating during use along the spine. That small design detail matters when targeting paraspinal muscles, where precise positioning makes a difference.

Controls and Display

A single button controls everything. A long press powers the device on or off, and quick presses cycle through the five speed levels in order.

The setup is straightforward and stays simple during use. There are no extra buttons to manage and no multi-step menus to navigate. If you prefer a clean, uncomplicated operation, this design works well.

Speed Indicators

Five LED lights below the power button indicate the current speed level and battery charge. There is no LCD display, no detailed readout, and no pressure sensor.

The LEDs provide enough information to operate the device confidently. Users who want an OLED screen showing exact RPM numbers or applied force metrics will miss that level of detail, but the minimalist design keeps distractions to a minimum.

Our Test Data and Performance

Percussion Depth and Pressure

We measured a 12mm amplitude, confirming the advertised spec. This places the B37 in the mid-amplitude category among full-size massage guns compared with devices designed around deeper stroke length for aggressive muscle treatment.

Stall force reached 56 lbs at maximum speed. Across the five levels, we measured approximately 28 lbs at speed one, 32 lbs at speed two, 40 lbs at speed three, 52 lbs at speed four, and 55 lbs at the top setting. At higher speeds, it takes deliberate, heavy pressure to stall the motor.

It also stands out among massage guns that deliver strong performance without pushing into premium pricing. The combination of 12mm amplitude and 56 lbs stall force produces solid deep-tissue output. The motor does not noticeably slow when you apply pressure, which keeps sessions consistent without needing to constantly adjust speed. While not the absolute strongest in the category, it competes closely with devices like the D6 Pro that prioritize maximum stall force for deep tissue work.

Stall Force

The Ekrin B37 maintains steady percussion under load across all five speeds. Many massage guns lose momentum when you press into the muscle. This one keeps working at the same intensity, which makes sessions feel more effective and predictable.

The 12mm stroke length provides enough depth for most muscle groups when supported by a strong stall force. It will not match longer-stroke devices in pure penetration, but the wider speed range and sustained power balance things out well for general recovery.

The angled handle made it easier to reach about 90 percent of muscle groups without awkward positioning. Lower back, upper traps, and glutes were noticeably easier to treat compared to straight-handle designs that strain the wrist.

Speed Range and Control

We measured 1400 RPM at the lowest speed and 3200 RPM at maximum, matching the advertised range exactly. That lower starting speed is especially useful. Many devices begin around 1750 RPM or higher, which can feel too aggressive for sensitive areas or warm-up work.

Five speed levels offer solid control with well-spaced increments. Speed changes happen smoothly with quick button presses and no sudden jumps.

Noise Level

In our testing environment with 35 dB background noise, we recorded 48.8 dB at the lowest speed and 60.9 dB at maximum. Ekrin advertises 35 to 55 dB, which is slightly optimistic. In practice, the device is still quiet enough for home use without disturbing others in nearby rooms. If lower noise matters during recovery sessions, it may also help to look at some of the quieter massage guns we have tested.

The sound profile is smooth and consistent, with no harsh mechanical tones or rattling under pressure. Vibration transfer to the handle is minimal, which helps keep longer sessions comfortable.

Battery Life

The 2550 mAh Samsung lithium-ion battery delivered between 5 and 6 hours of runtime under mixed speeds and moderate pressure. Ekrin’s advertised 4 to 6 hours aligns with what we experienced. With daily 10-minute sessions, you can expect more than 10 days between charges.

The use of a Samsung cell is meaningful. We have tested devices with unbranded batteries that showed noticeable degradation within months. After six months of testing the B37, performance remains consistent with no measurable drop in runtime.

The B37 charges via USB-C, replacing the micro-USB used in earlier versions. This keeps it aligned with current charging standards and eliminates the need for proprietary cables.

The battery is non-removable, so you cannot swap in a fresh one mid-session. The hard-shell case adds some bulk but provides solid protection during transport. At 2.2 lbs plus the case, the kit remains manageable for most travel needs.

Who Should Buy it?

The B37 is a strong choice for users who care most about core performance metrics. If stall force, amplitude, and speed range matter more to you than Bluetooth or app-based routines, this device delivers without locking you into a brand ecosystem.

Athletes and regular gym-goers will find the power sufficient for post-training recovery on large muscle groups. The 56 lbs stall force and 3200 RPM top speed handle quads, glutes, back, and calves without feeling weak. In our testing across all these areas, the motor held up consistently.

First-time buyers should give it serious consideration. It also stands out among the better price-to-performance options in the category. The single-button operation keeps things simple, the build quality exceeds expectations at this price, and the lifetime warranty lowers long-term risk. It is not something most users will outgrow quickly.

Who Should Skip it?

Skip the B37 if maximum amplitude is your top priority. The 12mm stroke length will not satisfy users specifically seeking 14 to 16mm for aggressive deep-tissue penetration on dense muscle groups. If portability matters more than maximum depth, compact massage guns designed specifically for travel and lighter recovery may be a better fit.

If you want connected features, this is not the right model. There is no Bluetooth, no app integration, no guided routines, and no pressure sensor display. The B37 focuses entirely on physical performance.

Users with smaller hands may find the handle diameter uncomfortable over longer sessions. Ekrin’s 365 model offers a slimmer grip, though with some trade-offs in power. If possible, it is worth testing the grip before committing.

Final Verdict

The Ekrin B37 delivers strong, consistent performance at a price well below many devices with similar specifications. The 56 lbs stall force, 3200 RPM maximum speed, and 5 to 6 hour battery life are standout figures in this range. After six months of testing, performance remains steady, and the Samsung battery cell adds confidence in long-term durability.

The 12mm amplitude does set a limit for users who want maximum penetration depth, and the lack of connected features will matter to some. The handle size is also a real consideration for smaller-handed users.

If you want reliable, measurable performance without extra tech features or premium pricing, and you value lifetime warranty coverage, the B37 is a well-built and thoughtfully designed option.

Theragun Mini Review: *our estimate, **our measurement

Our Take

The Theragun Mini 2nd generation is a compact massage gun built around a 12mm amplitude, which is the highest stroke length currently available in the mini category. It runs at 1750 to 2400 RPM across three speed levels in a redesigned body that weighs 1.1 lbs and measures about 20% smaller than the original.

The stall force is the device’s main constraint. We estimate approximately 20 lbs at maximum speed, meaning the motor slows under moderate pressure and stalls with heavier application. The 12mm amplitude provides genuine depth when the motor maintains speed, but the stall force prevents full use of that stroke length under load. Sessions work better with a lighter touch than with sustained pressure.

Compared to the first Mini, this version is clearly improved. It is smaller, quieter, charges with USB-C, connects to the app, and comes with three attachments instead of one. The triangular shape is still here, though, and that design continues to be a trade-off. It looks distinctive and matches the rest of the Therabody lineup, but it requires frequent grip changes and does not do much to reduce vibration in your hand.

If you already own a full-size Theragun like the Elite, designed for deeper everyday recovery, and want something compact for travel that shares attachments, the Mini makes sense. If you are buying it as your only massage gun, the stall force limitation is something you will notice regularly. If you’re weighing this against other compact options, you can also see how this model compares with the other mini massage guns we’ve tested so far.

Our Deep Honest Theragun 2nd Generation Mini Massage Gun Review

[wp-review id=”4626″]

Unboxing, Build Quality, and First Impressions

The packaging is smaller than the original and uses less plastic. Inside the box, you get a soft carry pouch with the updated Therabody logo, the Mini with one attachment installed, and two additional attachments.

Right away, the device feels lighter and more compact in your hand. Build quality feels solid. The rubberized texture gives it a secure feel, and the materials match what you would expect from Therabody’s larger devices. The triangular shape is unchanged from the first generation.

The case contains:

  • Theragun 2nd generation mini massage gun
  • Two additional attachments
  • USB-C charging cable
  • Quick start guide
  • Brand materials
  • Founder letter
  • Sticker
  • Warranty information

Build Quality & Design Improvements

Let’s take a look at the build and design of this model.

Frame and Grip Design

The triangular design definitely stands out. It gives the Mini a unique look, but it is not the most comfortable shape for longer sessions.

You will likely find yourself adjusting your grip often to stay comfortable. After several minutes, that constant repositioning can lead to arm fatigue compared to more traditional handle designs.

theragun mini massage gun side view

Weight and Balance

At 1.1 lbs with the ball head attached, the Mini is noticeably lighter than the original 1.45 lb version. The dimensions have also shrunk to 5.55 x 4.92 x 1.93 inches. The thinner profile makes it easier to hold, especially for users with smaller hands.

Materials and Build Quality

The materials feel premium. The rubberized exterior helps with grip, and the overall construction feels sturdy.

That said, vibration transfer is noticeable. You feel it in your hand during use, especially in longer sessions. The lighter weight helps, but it does not fully offset the vibration.

Theragun Mini Massage Gun Attachments

You get three attachments with this version: a standard ball head, a dampener head, and a thumb head. All three are soft and feel secure once installed. This is a big improvement over the original Mini, which only included one head.

Attachment Compatibility

All three heads are compatible with Therabody’s 4th and 5th generation full-size devices. That is a real advantage if you already own another Theragun.

The dampener and ball head feel very similar in real-world use. Swapping one of them for a wedge or cone would have added more variety to the set.

Standout Attachments

The standard ball head is the most versatile. It works well across most muscle groups and feels balanced for general use.

The thumb head is the firmest of the three. It is decent for smaller areas, but it is not as precise as a cone attachment would be for true pinpoint work.

Controls and Display

Control is handled by a single button. Hold it down to power on or off. Press it quickly to cycle through the three speeds.

It is simple and easy to use.

Speed Indicators

Three LED lights indicate which speed you are on. Another LED around the power button shows whether the device is on or off. There is no screen and no pressure sensor.

The lights are clear enough, and you can also tell the speed by the sound and feel of the device.

Battery Indicator

Battery status is shown through LED color changes. Flashing red means low battery. Flashing blue means about halfway. Flashing green means more than halfway. Solid green means fully charged.

Our Test Data and Performance

Percussion Depth and Pressure

We confirmed the 12mm amplitude. That is impressive for a mini device compared with massage guns that rely on a deeper stroke length for more aggressive muscle treatment.

Stall force tops out at about 20 lbs. At lower speeds, it is even less. The motor slows under moderate pressure and stalls if you press too hard. Some compact models manage noticeably higher stall force while staying travel-friendly.

Theragun mini Measured Amplitude

Stall Force

The 12mm amplitude delivers noticeable depth on muscle groups where lighter pressure is sufficient. Calves, arms, and shoulders respond well to what the motor can sustain, and the stroke length makes a real difference in feel on these areas.

On larger muscle groups such as quads, glutes, and back, the limitations show up quickly. You cannot lean into it the way you can with a stronger full-size device. It works better if you keep it moving and avoid sustained pressure.

Effective percussive therapy depends on maintaining rapid percussion while applying force, and the Mini’s tendency to slow under load limits that are on larger muscle groups.

Speed Range and Control

We measured 1750 RPM at the lowest setting, 2100 RPM at medium, and 2400 RPM at top speed. That matches the advertised range.

Three speeds are enough for most users. The jumps between levels feel logical, and switching speeds is quick and smooth.

Noise Level

We recorded 60.5 dB at maximum speed. The difference from the original Mini is small on paper, but the sound quality is noticeably smoother.

The first version had a sharper, more abrasive tone. This one sounds more refined and less irritating during longer sessions. If lower noise matters during recovery sessions, it may also help to look at some of the quieter massage guns we have tested.

Battery Life

Charging and Portability

Therabody advertises 2 hours of runtime. We measured approximately 1.5 hours under mixed speed use and moderate pressure.

The battery drains faster at higher speeds or with sustained pressure application. For typical daily sessions of 10 to 15 minutes, the capacity covers several days between charges.

The device now uses USB-C charging, replacing the dedicated wall charger from the original Mini. A three-foot cable is included. No wall plug is included, so charging runs through a standard phone adapter or laptop USB port.

The USB-C switch aligns the Mini with most current compact massage guns and removes the need for a proprietary charger during travel.

Bluetooth and App

The Mini 2nd generation connects to the Therabody app via Bluetooth. Through the app, you get guided routines and more granular speed control than the three physical levels on the device.

Theragun Mini Custom Speed Setting Via Therabody App

If you are new to massage guns, the guided routines can be helpful. They walk you through muscle groups and adjust intensity along the way. If you are experienced, you may not use the app often, but the added control options are nice to have.

Who Should Buy it?

The Mini suits users who already own full-size Theraguns and want a travel companion that shares attachments across the lineup. The compatibility with Therabody’s 4th and 5th generation devices provides practical value for those already in the ecosystem.

If you want the highest amplitude available in a mini format and are comfortable using lighter pressure, you will appreciate the 12mm stroke length.

Who Should Skip it?

Skip the Mini if effective sustained pressure is the primary requirement. A full-size model will deliver stronger stall force and more consistent deep-tissue performance. The approximately 20 lbs stall force is not sufficient for users who regularly press into tissue on large muscle groups. The motor slows too quickly under that kind of load to deliver consistent percussive therapy.

If ergonomics are your top priority, the triangular design and noticeable vibration may become frustrating during longer sessions.

Theragun Mini G2 Worth The Price

Final Verdict

The Theragun Mini 2nd generation improves on the original in almost every way outside of raw motor strength. It is smaller, lighter, has a smoother sound, is USB-C compatible, and comes with more attachments.

However, the core performance remains limited by stall force. You cannot fully use that 12mm amplitude under real pressure, and the triangular design still brings ergonomic compromises. The one-year warranty also feels short at this price.

If you are already invested in the Therabody ecosystem and want a compact option that shares accessories, this Mini fits that role well. If you are buying a standalone compact massage gun and want strong, sustained pressure, the stall force will likely be the deciding factor.

Our Take

The Ekrin Bantam is a compact massage gun built around an 8mm amplitude and 35 lbs of stall force. It runs from 2000 to 3200 RPM on three speed levels. For a device that weighs just 1.1 lbs and stands about six inches tall, it is genuinely easy to carry around.

If you’re comparing compact options across brands, you can also see how this model stacks up against the other mini massage guns we’ve tested so far.

Ekrin carried over the 15-degree angled handle from its full-size lineup, which reduces wrist strain compared to straight T-shaped designs. The build feels solid and well put together. The single-button interface keeps things simple, although it means you rely on sound and feel to know what speed you are on rather than a visual display.

Battery life is one of the standout features. The 1600 mAh Samsung cell delivered between 4 and 6 hours of runtime in our testing, which translates to roughly a week of daily 15-minute sessions before needing a charge. Four attachments and a compact hard case are included, making it a more complete package than many devices in this size range.

The 7.84mm amplitude works well for general recovery on calves, arms, and shoulders. It is not designed for aggressive deep-tissue sessions on large muscle groups like quads and glutes. If you understand that limitation going in, the Bantam performs consistently within its intended range. Some compact devices prioritize amplitude instead of stall force, such as the Theragun Mini that focuses on deeper stroke length in a smaller body.

Our Deep Honest Ekrin Bantam Mini Massage Gun Review

[wp-review id=”3421″]

Unboxing, Build Quality, and First Impressions

The Bantam comes in a compact two-zipper carrying case that fits easily into gym bags or backpacks. The case feels durable and well-organized inside, and it holds up well for regular travel use.

Inside the case, you get the massage gun, four attachments, a USB-C charging cable, an instruction pamphlet, and an Ekrin logo sticker. The manual clearly explains attachment use and covers the basics of percussion therapy.

The device itself uses high-quality matte plastic similar to Ekrin’s full-size models. It feels solid in hand, not flimsy or hollow. The power button sits at the base of the handle instead of near the top, which feels slightly unusual at first, but quickly becomes second nature.

Build Quality & Design Improvements

Let’s take a look at the build and design of this model.

Frame and Grip Design

ekrin bantam massage gun

Ekrin kept the 15-degree angled handle from its larger models. That angle helps reduce wrist strain compared to standard T-shaped compact designs and makes the Bantam more comfortable during longer sessions.

The handle has enough texture to feel secure without adding a separate rubber coating. A silicone layer would have improved grip even more, but in normal use, the surface does not feel slippery.

Weight and Balance

At 1.1 lbs, the Bantam is lightweight without feeling fragile. It is easy to use for extended periods without noticeable arm fatigue.

The compact size, around six inches tall, makes it comparable to most smartphones in height. It fits easily in gym bags, carry-on luggage, and even larger jacket pockets.

Materials and Build Quality

The housing uses the same matte plastic found on Ekrin’s full-size devices. There are no metal accents or premium overlays, but everything feels durable and well assembled.

Ekrin Bantam Mini Massage Gun Attachments

Four attachments come with the Bantam: a ball head, flat head, fork head, and bullet head. This is a more versatile set than many mini massage guns that only include two or three options.

The ball head uses hollow silicone instead of foam, which should hold up better over time. The flat, fork, and bullet heads are made of hard plastic.

Attachment Compatibility

Attachments use a simple push-and-pull system. The fork head includes guidance to ensure proper orientation, while the other three install without needing alignment.

They slide in and out easily and stay secure during sessions. We did not experience loosening or rattling under pressure.

ekrin bantam mini massage gun

Standout Attachments

The flat head has a silicone top cover that softens impact while the firm plastic base keeps its structure. That makes it useful across a wide range of muscle groups and pressure preferences.

The fork head, made of hard plastic, works well along the spine and around the Achilles tendon. Its shape helps keep it from rotating during use.

Controls and Display

A single button at the base of the handle controls all functions. There is no LCD display or LED speed indicator beyond a simple power light. The minimalist approach keeps the design clean and uncluttered. A long press powers the device on or off, and quick presses cycle through the three speeds.

Speed Indicators

There is no LCD screen and no dedicated LED speed indicators. The only light shows that the device is powered on.

The difference in intensity between the three levels is clear enough that you can identify the speed by feel and sound. Users who prefer visual confirmation at a glance may miss having a display.

Battery Indicator

An LED at the base shows battery level through color changes. Blue indicates 80 to 100 percent charge, purple shows 60 to 80 percent, red indicates 20 to 60 percent, and flashing red signals below 20 percent.

This setup gives you enough information to manage charging without complicating the simple interface.

Our Test Data and Performance

Percussion Depth and Pressure

We measured roughly 8mm of amplitude, just slightly under the advertised figure. In the mini category, where many devices operate at 6 to 8mm, this puts the Bantam near the top for stroke length compared with massage guns designed to deliver deeper percussion for stronger muscle treatment.

Stall force reaches 35 lbs at maximum speed. We measured about 28 lbs at the lowest setting, 32 lbs at mid-level, and 35 lbs at the highest speed. For a compact device, that is a meaningful pressure capacity.

Stall Force

The combination of 7.84mm amplitude and 35 lbs of stall force makes the Bantam effective within the realistic limits of a compact device. It handles calves, arms, shoulders, and lighter leg work well. You can use it on larger muscle groups like quads and glutes, but heavy sustained pressure will eventually slow the motor.

We brought the Bantam on a two-day hiking trip covering 30 miles with 8500 feet of elevation gain. We used it every 6 to 8 miles and again at the end of each day. It noticeably reduced next-morning soreness, and its light weight made it easy to carry without adding bulk.

Under moderate pressure, percussion stays consistent. It takes more force to stall it than most mini devices, though heavy-handed sessions on large muscle groups can still reach its limit.

Speed Range and Control

We measured 2000 RPM at the lowest setting, 2600 RPM at mid-level, and 3200 RPM at maximum using a laser tachometer. That matches Ekrin’s published range and is strong output for a compact unit.

Three speeds cover most practical needs. The steps between levels feel well spaced and not overly abrupt. A fourth level would give finer control, but the current setup works for most recovery routines.

Noise Level

The Bantam runs at around 50 dB during typical use and climbs slightly above 60 dB at maximum speed. For a compact massage gun, it is fairly quiet. If low noise matters during recovery sessions, it may also help to look at some of the quieter massage guns we have tested.

We did not need to turn up the TV during evening sessions. There was no rattling under pressure, and vibration transfer to the handle remained minimal, both of which are common issues in this category.

Battery Life

The 1600 mAh Samsung battery delivered between 4 and 6 hours of runtime in our no-load testing, depending on speed and pressure. With daily 15-minute sessions, you can expect one to two weeks between charges, or 95 minutes of moderate use, as measured.

The fact that Ekrin specifies a Samsung cell matters. We have tested compact devices with unbranded batteries that showed noticeable degradation within months. Samsung’s track record makes the long-term battery claim more reassuring.

massage gun battery charger

The Bantam charges via USB-C using the included three-foot cable. No wall adapter is included, so you will use a standard phone charger or laptop port.

The LED indicator shows charge status in real time without turning the device on. At 1.1 lbs with its compact case, the Bantam remains highly portable for travel, gym use, or daily commuting without feeling bulky.

Who Should Buy it?

The Bantam is a great fit for users who want real portability without sacrificing too much performance. Frequent travelers, gym-goers, and anyone who needs something that fits easily into carry-on luggage or a jacket pocket will appreciate its size and consistency.

Active users looking for post-workout recovery on the go will find enough power for lighter muscle maintenance and soreness management. The 35 lbs stall force and 3200 RPM top speed handle that role well. Our hiking test confirmed it performs reliably under daily use away from home.

The lifetime warranty is also a strong advantage at this price point. Most compact massage guns offer one year of coverage. Lifetime protection significantly improves long-term value.

Who Should Skip it?

Skip the Bantam if you want aggressive deep-tissue work on large muscle groups. The 7.84mm amplitude and compact motor are not built for sustained heavy pressure on quads, glutes, or back muscles. A full-size device is better suited for that.

If you prefer four or more speed levels, the three-speed system may feel limiting. It handles most general use cases, but it does not offer fine-grained control.

Users who rely on visual speed confirmation may also miss having a display. The Bantam offers no speed readout beyond the basic power light, so you depend entirely on sound and feel.

ekrin bantam massage gun review

Final Verdict

The Ekrin Bantam delivers performance that stands out in the compact category. With 35 lbs of stall force, a 3200 RPM ceiling, and 4 to 6 hours of battery life, it performs above what most devices this size can manage. The four attachments, hard carry case, and lifetime warranty round out a thoughtful and complete package.

The 7.84mm amplitude does limit deep-tissue potential, and the three-speed system will not suit everyone. The lack of a display takes some getting used to. These are expected compromises in a truly compact device.

If portability is your top priority and you still want consistent recovery power on the go, the Bantam is a well-executed and dependable option.

Our Take

The Bob and Brad D6 Pro is a high-amplitude massage gun built around a 16mm stroke length and roughly 60 lbs of stall force. It operates between 1460 and 2460 RPM with six speed settings, four dynamic modes, an OLED screen, and a six-position adjustable arm.

During use, performance holds up. The motor stays steady under pressure at every speed, and the auto-pressure feature works smoothly. The seven included attachments cover most recovery needs, although the spade head does not perform as well as this style usually does.

The D6 Pro is undeniably heavy. The D-shaped frame gives you two solid grip options, but it does not offer the same flexibility as a triangular multi-grip design. If you plan on long sessions or overhead work on traps and upper back, you will feel the weight build up. The pressure sensor is visible on the display, but once the device is running under load, it is difficult to monitor in real time.

If you want true deep-tissue output and can handle the weight, the D6 Pro delivers where it counts. If you’re comparing it against other top performers, you can also see how it stacks up against the strongest massage guns we’ve tested so far. If portability, lighter handling, or a more original design matter more to you, there are trade-offs to think about.

Our Deep Honest Bob and Brad D6 Pro Massage Gun Review

[wp-review id=”18141″]

Unboxing, Build Quality, and First Impressions

The D6 Pro arrives inside a semi-hard carrying case with Bob and Brad’s signature blue branding. The case feels protective without being oversized, and it is compact enough to travel with. Inside, a separate pouch keeps all seven attachments organized.

The manual is 86 pages long and includes detailed guidance for targeting different muscle groups. It is one of the more thorough instruction booklets we have seen with a consumer massage gun. Also included are a USB-C charging cable, a wall adapter, and two spare gaskets for the attachment mechanism.

Right out of the box, the build quality stands out. The all-plastic frame uses higher-grade materials with a matte finish and rubberized grip areas. It feels solid and stable, even when you start applying real pressure.

Build Quality & Design Improvements

Let’s take a look at the build and design of this model.

Frame and Grip Design

Bob And Brad D6 Pro Massage Gun Left Side

The D6 Pro uses a D-shaped frame with two primary grip positions rather than a triangular multi-angle design. The upper handle works well for front-body areas like traps, while the lower handle is better suited for glutes and lower back.

Each grip changes the leverage slightly, which helps depending on what muscle group you are working on.

The handles are lightly rubberized with an oval cross-section and slightly edged sides instead of fully rounded contours. The edges are not sharp, but during sessions longer than about 10 minutes, they create noticeable pressure points in the hand.

Weight and Balance

At 2.86 lbs with an attachment installed, the D6 Pro is heavy for a full-size massage gun. Most users will feel arm fatigue during longer sessions, especially when working overhead on traps and the upper back.

That said, the weight distribution is fairly balanced. The upper handle feels a bit more neutral, while the lower handle gives you solid leverage for larger muscle groups. Users with smaller hands or lower grip strength should keep session length in mind.

Materials and Build Quality

The housing uses quality plastic throughout, finished in matte black with a glossy black percussion arm. Edges are rounded, seams are clean, and everything looks well assembled.

Both handles include rubberized sections that improve grip security. During extended testing under sustained pressure, we noticed no creaking, rattling, or flex in the body. Overall build quality feels consistent and dependable.

Bob and Brad D6 Pro Massage Gun Attachments

The D6 Pro includes seven attachments: a large ball with slight give, a standard ball like a dampener, a smaller-area damping head, a soft air cushion head, a flat head with moderate give, a bullet head for trigger points, and a wedge-shaped spade head that’s softer than expected.

Material quality is consistent across all seven, and the softness levels feel in line with what you would expect from a premium set.

Attachment Compatibility

In our testing, the spade head fell short. These wedge attachments are meant for controlled scraping on areas like the IT bands and upper back, yet this version bends too easily under load. A firmer design would make it more functional.

Attachments use a twist-and-lock system. They thread on smoothly, seat firmly, and show no wobble during use. We ran extended sessions with sustained pressure and had no issues with loosening. The included pouch keeps everything organized when traveling.

Heated Attachment Feature (D6 Pro Plus)

The Plus version includes a heated massage head that reaches about 115°F in roughly 20 seconds. The heated attachment has its own internal battery and runs for about one hour per charge. Recharging it takes around two hours via USB-C. A soft red glow around the ring shows when heating is active.

The fast heat-up time and practical temperature range make it genuinely useful for chronic tension, pre-workout prep, and recovery. It feels like a functional addition rather than a gimmick, and it strengthens the case for choosing the Plus model if heat is something you value.

Standout Attachments

The air cushion head stands out as the most versatile. It is genuinely soft and spreads pressure across a wider surface, which helps on bony areas or for users who find 16mm amplitude too intense at lower speeds.

The bullet head performs well for focused trigger-point work on the hands and feet, where precision matters more than coverage.

Controls and Display

Two buttons control everything. The top button powers the device on and off with a long press and steps up through speed levels with quick presses. The lower button steps down through speeds with quick presses and switches between massage modes with a long press.

OLED Display

The OLED screen shows speed level, battery status, and selected mode. Its placement mirrors the adjustable-arm position seen on the Theragun Pro and remains visible in most grip positions.

A pressure sensor appears as a bar scale on the display. In practice, it reacts later than expected and becomes hard to read once the device is vibrating under load. It works more as a rough reference than a precise real-time guide.

Mode Functions

Beyond manual control, there are four modes.

  • M1 is standard manual operation across six fixed speeds.
  • M2 gradually ramps from the minimum to the maximum RPM every 5 seconds.
  • M3 does the opposite, starting high and stepping down.
  • M4 increases speed every two seconds, then drops back down in a repeating cycle.

Of the four, M4 is the most useful. It works especially well for warm-ups or general recovery sessions where a constant speed can start to feel repetitive.

Our Test Data and Performance

Percussion Depth and Pressure

We measured 16mm amplitude with a digital caliper, confirming the advertised spec. That places the D6 Pro in the top tier for stroke length among consumer devices and alongside massage guns that deliver deeper percussion for heavy muscle recovery.

Stall force is advertised at 80 lbs, but based on testing, we estimate it to be closer to 60 lbs. Even so, it is extremely strong. The motor does not slow under heavy pressure at low speeds, and at higher speeds, it is very difficult to stall.

The auto-pressure feature activates as you approach the stall threshold. The device automatically steps up one speed level, then drops back down once pressure decreases. In practice, it works smoothly and does not feel abrupt.

Bob An Brad D6 Pro Measured Amplitude 16mm

Stall Force

The combination of 16mm amplitude and strong stall force delivers true deep-tissue performance. It ranks among the strongest models we’ve tested in this category. We tested on glutes, hamstrings, quads, calves, and back muscles. It handles large muscle groups without cutting out or losing power under the kind of pressure those areas require.

While the maximum speed of 2460 RPM is lower than that of some shorter-stroke devices, the longer stroke compensates by delivering deeper impact.

After about 15 minutes, the weight becomes the main limitation. Arm fatigue builds up, especially during overhead work on traps and the upper back. The D-shaped frame helps with leverage, but it cannot fully eliminate the effort required for longer solo sessions.

Speed Range and Control

We measured 1460 RPM at the lowest setting and 2460 RPM at maximum, closely matching the advertised range. Six speed levels give enough adjustment for most recovery needs, with evenly spaced steps and smooth transitions.

The four dynamic modes add practical variety. M4 in particular became a regular part of warm-up sessions, since the automatic ramping feels more natural than holding one fixed speed.

Noise Level

We recorded 67.7 dB at maximum speed. The sound profile stays consistent across speeds and does not introduce rattling or grinding, even under sustained pressure.

For home use, the noise is moderate. If low noise is your priority, there are quieter options available. It will not carry loudly into other rooms, but it is not quiet enough for shared workspaces or sleeping environments nearby.

Battery Life

The 2500 mAh battery is advertised to deliver 3 hours of runtime. In real-world testing, we saw between 1.5 and 2 hours under mixed speeds and moderate pressure.

Reaching three hours would require running continuously at the lowest speed without meaningful pressure, which is not how most people use it.

Even at 1.5 to 2 hours, that covers about a week of daily 10 to 15-minute sessions. The OLED display keeps battery status clearly visible.

Bob And Brad D6 Pro Usb C Charging Port

The D6 Pro uses USB-C charging and includes a wall adapter that supports 5V to 12V input. A full charge takes about 210 minutes from empty.

The battery is non-removable, so you cannot swap in a fresh one mid-session. The semi-hard case adds some bulk but offers solid protection. At 2.86 lbs plus the case, this is not the easiest option for light travel.

Who Should Buy it?

The D6 Pro is a good fit for users who care most about deep-tissue performance and do not mind handling a heavier device. If you train hard, deal with stubborn tension in large muscle groups, or need pressure that does not stall under load, the 16mm amplitude and roughly 60 lbs of stall force deliver.

Anyone who has found other massage guns too shallow or underpowered will likely appreciate what this model offers. For the level of output, the price-to-performance ratio is compelling if you can accept the weight.

Who Should Skip it?

Skip the D6 Pro if portability or extended handheld comfort is your priority. At 2.86 lbs, fatigue builds during longer sessions, especially for users with smaller hands or lower grip strength. A lighter full-size model or a smaller travel-friendly massage gun like the compact A7 Pro designed for portability and everyday recovery, may be a better fit.

It is also worth noting that our testing period does not cover long-term durability. Motor lifespan, battery longevity, and overall wear remain unknown. The one-year default warranty, extendable to two years through manufacturer contact, provides some coverage but is not the most generous in the category.

Final Verdict

The Bob and Brad D6 Pro delivers serious deep-tissue performance at a price well below most full-size devices with similar specs. The 16mm amplitude checks out, the stall force is difficult to overpower in normal use, and the seven attachments with a semi-hard case make it a complete package.

There are trade-offs. The weight causes fatigue in longer sessions, the handle edges can create pressure points, and battery life falls short of the advertised figure under realistic use. The close resemblance to the Theragun Pro will matter to some users and not at all to others.

If you want proven deep-tissue output and can handle a heavier build, the D6 Pro is a capable and competitively priced option.

Theragun Pro Review: Is Therabody’s Flagship Massage Gun Still the Best in 2026? https://massagegunadvice.com/theragun-pro-review/ https://massagegunadvice.com/theragun-pro-review/#comments Sun, 08 Feb 2026 00:14:45 +0000 https://massagegunadvice.com/?p=4458 Today, it is time for the Theragun Pro review! We finally got our hands on Theragun’s top gun: the powerful fifth-generation Theragun Professional (Theragun Pro 5th Gen). But, if you want to learn everything about the 6th Gen, then visit our Theragun Pro Plus review.

We were excited and a bit overwhelmed by the thrill of having this top-of-the-shelf device. Teenagers probably get the same feeling when they lay their hands on a new PS5 gaming console. You’d think, as experts, such thrills wouldn’t carry us away, but we have to admit, we felt something!

But that aside, let’s get down to it and look at the Theragun Pro massage gun.

Key Takeaways:

  • The 5th Gen Theragun Pro introduces significant improvements (like a reduced noise level) over the Theragun Pro 4th Generation while maintaining the same price point.
  • The Theragun Pro features a 16mm amplitude with robust power, a sleek design, and a high-end build. It also includes Bluetooth and a mobile App for built-in routines.
  • Exceptional ergonomics and strong performance make it an ideal tool for intense and the best deep tissue massage.
  • High quality comes with a hefty price tag of $599. We also list some worthwhile Theragun alternatives.

Theragun Pro By Therabody

Theragun by Therabody; massage gun brand

Theragun, as you might be familiar with, is the big kahuna of the percussive therapy industry. They hit the ground running with the first massage gun on the market and haven’t looked back since.

Since 2016, they have mesmerized the percussive therapy industry with one innovation after another. They are like the Apple of the massage gun world.

The G5 means that it’s the fifth-generation Theragun already. Their first generation Pro happened in 2016.

Because they don’t mess about with what they do, their deep tissue massagers are consequently highly priced, and the Theragun Pro is the most expensive of them all. So that’s what we’ll be looking at today.

Is the hefty price justified? In today’s massage gun industry, many sports massagers have emerged with the same or even better features than the Theragun Pro.

So, what makes Theragun Pro the king of the industry, or would you rather go with the competitors? We’ll cover this in our Theragun Pro review below.

Theragun Pro Review: Unboxing, Build Quality, and First Impressions

We love pulling new massage guns out of quality carrying cases. You feel that you are getting your money’s worth and that the brand cares for you as a customer.

Thankfully, the Theragun Professional comes in a nicely done carrying case (it would be daylight robbery if they didn’t include one at such a hefty price).

NEW: Interestingly, they changed the case for the latest, Theragun Pro 5th Gen model – they opted for a soft case. While a soft case may be less protective than a hard case (known from the Theragun Pro 4th gen), it makes the whole package much smaller and thus way more portable than before.

The previous model’s case was the biggest we’ve ever seen in a massage gun, which was impractical in daily use. The new case feels like a much better choice. It is highly portable, has pockets for accessories, and the quality is outstanding (we love the materials on the inside; they are very soft).

We also found a pouch for the attachments (similar to the one in TheraFace Pro), a USB-C cable with an adapter (yes, USB-C!), and a sample of the QuietForce™ oil for maintenance (more on it later).

Just like in Theragun Prime and Elite, we also noticed an Apple-style envelope containing information such as a letter from the founder, a quick-start guide, an actual manual with more details, a Theragun sticker, and warranty information.

Top Sport Massager: Theragun Pro

Theragun Professional feels like a genuine piece for massage therapy, not a toy. As we’ll see later, it offers more than the multi-grip in giving you a quality and stress-free massage.

The Thera Gun Pro’s triangular design has become synonymous with its percussion massagers. Its multi-grip offers more ways to hold it than any other muscle massager.

It’s made of quality plastic, with the handles rubberized. But just like the Theragun Elite model, only the outside of the handle is rubberized.

Unlike the Elite, which has a colored ring on its arm, the Pro has a colored circle on the part enclosing the motor.

When we handled the sports massager, we found that the arm was glossy and was a fingerprint magnet, but we didn’t touch it as frequently.

Like the Theragun Elite, the Theragun Pro also features an OLED screen (a stylish one) that displays the speeds, battery level, and the force applied.

NEW: What’s changed in the Theragun Pro 5th Generation?

The Theragun Professional 5th Gen is nearly identical to its predecessor. The only visual difference is the imprinted logo on the side. On the previous Theragun Pro 4th generation, the logo was “Theragun,” whereas on the 5th-gen, it is the Therabody logo, accompanied by a blue stripe underneath. Other than that, the two massage guns look identical.

Controls

When we tested it, we noted that its mode of operation was similar to the Theragun Elite and the previous Theragun Pro G4 model:

  • Press and hold the power button to turn on/off the device.
  • Press + or to change speeds.
  • Press < and > to cycle between custom preset routines saved in the handheld massager (more on this later).

Theragun Attachments

The Theragun Professional comes with 6 attachments, one more than the Theragun Elite and the same as the Theragun Pro G4.

Theragun Pro Attachments 5th gen
Theragun attachments: the PRO comes with six.

We found the attachments are made from quality rubber. In our hands-on testing, some felt softer than others. We also noticed that the larger the attachment, the softer it felt.

Also, compared to the Theragun Pro G4, there have been some minor changes. Let’s take a look.

Standard Ball

This one is perfect for large and small muscle groups. It can be used for a full body massage.

Therabody Standard Ball Attachment

Dampener

During our tests, we found the dampener effective on bony and tender areas (such as forearm sore) and for a quick overall full body massage.

Therabody Dampener Attachment

Thumb

It’s meant to trigger point massage and relieve lower back and hip pain.

Therabody Thumb Attachment

Wedge

This is perfect for reducing neck tension, shoulder pain relief, and IT bands. It’s also the perfect attachment for flushing and scraping to increase blood flow and as a natural pain relief.

Theragun Pro Wedge Head Attachment G5

NEW:

Micro-Point

This is a new attachment that currently comes only with the Pro. We first saw a similar one in Theraface Pro, also known as the “Theragun for face” (Therabody face).

According to Therabody, it maximizes circulation for larger areas. It is made of silicone sticks, so it isn’t very firm.

Therabody Micro Point Attachment

Supersoft™

This is a unique Theragun attachment with soft foam attached. It is for tender, sore, bony, and joint areas.

The foam can be easily detached and replaced. Therabody sells a foam tip refill that can be bought separately.

Therabody Supersoft Foam Tip

We were excited to try the new Micro-point attachment, but we found ourselves missing the tougher Conehead that isn’t included anymore.

The Conehead was the firmest one meant for trigger point massage, so if you plan to use the sports massager aggressively (e.g., on ligaments around the hands and feet), you might miss it. But at least there is the option to buy it separately.

When we reviewed the Theragun Elite, we also expressed concern about the lack of variety in the Theragun attachments.

We still feel that most of these attachments are pretty similar. The ball, dampener, and thumb attachment are all alike. We wouldn’t mind if they introduced the fork and flat head attachments. That’s just what we feel, having used many massage guns.

Theragun Attachments for Theragun pro
All Theragun PRO attachments and their respective impact levels.

Finally, the Theragun attachments fit perfectly on all 4th and 5th generation muscle massagers, thanks to the universal mount system that is the same on each model.

Theragun Ergonomics, Size, and Weight

We took it out of the box and found that the Theragun Professional 5th Gen is the same size as its predecessor, just as we expected. This means it is slightly bigger than the Theragun Elite but noticeably larger than the Theragun Prime.

It’s not the biggest percussion massager we have seen, but since it’s the best Theragun device (Pro), it can get away with a bit of extra size.

As a result, it is also heavy. With a standard ball attachment, it weighs 2.82 lbs (1.28 kg). However, the weight has been reduced slightly compared to the previous Theragun Pro 4th Gen. The new one is 0.13 lbs (60 grams) lighter than the old one, but this is not enough to make a noticeable difference.

It felt slightly heavier than the Elite and Prime—actually 0.3 lbs heavier in our hands. We suspected it’s because it carries the family’s pride, a factor we explore further in our review.

From an ergonomic standpoint, after handling all the models, we can confidently say it’s the best Theragun, not just due to the multi-grip ergonomic handle.

TheTheragun Pro is the only Theragun with an adjustable arm. The arm can lock into four positions to make the massage experience smoother. Press and release a button to adjust it once the arm clicks into a position.

Other brands have tried this feature, but the arm doesn’t lock into position like the Theragun Pro (looking at you, Lifepro DynaFlex).

Theragun Pro G5 Adjustable Arm 4 Positions
The Theragun Pro is the only Theragun with an adjustable arm.

The adjustable arm will probably be a huge plus for chiropractors and therapists, who may need more options when massaging different people.

In our self-testing, the adjustable arm proved helpful when we wanted to reach the lower and middle back. However, we don’t think adjustability is a must-have.

Theragun Pro Performance

Theragun Pro Stroke Length

This is how far the head of the massage gun moves back and forth to produce the percussions. Also called amplitude, it determines the depth of a massage.

Theragun is the king when it comes to stroke length.

The Pro has a 16mm amplitude, which, like other full-sized Theraguns, is still the longest amplitude you can get.

Theragun Pro G5 Measured Amplitude
We measured and confirmed Theragun Pro’s 16 mm amplitude massage gun.

That said, other brands have also started equipping their devices with 16 mm amplitude.

A good example is the Bob and Brad D6 Pro, which is also a fierce rival to the Theragun Pro in terms of performance.

With enough stall force, 16 mm amplitude guarantees a great punch and the best deep tissue massage.

Theragun Pro Stall Force

Stall force is the amount of pressure required to stop a device’s motor, thereby stalling it. We can never discuss the strength of a massage gun without mentioning its stall force.

The Theragun Pro is the strongest Theragun with a 60 lbs stall force.

This is often more than enough stall force to do the job without slowing down percussions upon pressing on a body. Other devices have more than 60 lbs. of stall force, but we don’t think you’ll ever need more.

Because the Theragun Pro also has a long 16 mm amplitude, the great stall force means you can have the best deep tissue massage. Unlike its siblings (e.i., Theragun Prime, Theragun Elite, Theragun Sense, and Theragun Relief), the Theragun Pro can guarantee deep percussive therapy even to a heavily built bodybuilder or athlete.

However, note that even here, the stall force is progressive. In other words, you won’t get 60 lbs. across all speeds. The Theragun Pro only stalls with 60 lbs. of force when it’s revving at high intensity.

Theragun Force Meter

The Theragun Pro, like the Theragun Elite, has a force meter that tells you how much pressure you exert on your body.

This shows up on an OLED screen as stocked bars. We feel this is an essential feature for therapists or chiropractors who want to achieve consistency during percussive therapy sessions.

However, if you’re going to use this handheld massage gun on yourself, we feel that the force meter is not something you’ll have to worry about (there’s no way to see it accurately when using it on your back).

With consistent use, you can quickly master how to use Theragun effectively.

Theragun Performance Comparison

How does Theragun PRO compare to its main competitors?

Stall Force (lbs.)

[wpcharts type=”horizontalbarchart” bgcolor=”#ffbb00:#ffbb00:#ffbb00,#63ffff:#63ffff:#63ffff,#11ccff:#11ccff:#11ccff,#0765c2:#0765c2:#0765c2,#152560:#152560:#152560″ min=”20″ max=”70″ legend=”false” titles=”Theragun PRO,Bob and Brad D6 Pro,Ekrin Kestrel,Ekrin B37,Opove Apex” values=”60,60,56,56,45″]

Stall Force: Only Bob and Brad D6 Pro, Ekrin Kestrel, and Ekrin B37S can match Theragun Pro’s 60 lbs.
The D6 Pro has been advertised as 85 lbs.f, but felt closer to 65 lbs.f in our review, while the latter is stronger on the first 4 speeds and almost as strong on the top one.

Stroke Length (mm)

[wpcharts type=”horizontalbarchart” bgcolor=”#ffbb00:#ffbb00:#ffbb00,#63ffff:#63ffff:#63ffff,#11ccff:#11ccff:#11ccff,#0765c2:#0765c2:#0765c2,#152560:#152560:#152560″ min=”10″ max=”20″ legend=”false” titles=”Theragun PRO,Bob and Brad D6 Pro,Ekrin Kestrel,Ekrin B37,Opove Apex” values=”16,16,13,12,14″]

Stroke Length: Theragun’s 16 mm is the best-in-business, and only Bob and Brad D6 Pro can match it (max 2500 RPM).
Ekrin Kestrel may only have 13 mm, but it instead has plenty of stall force at all speeds. It revs to 3500 RPM, making it more intense. Ekrin B37 is a bit behind with 12 mm and 3200 RPM.

Theragun Percussions and Speed Levels

Like the Theragun Prime, Theragun Elite, and previous generations, the Theragun Professional has the same percussion range of 1750-2400 RPM.

You can easily cycle through these 5 speeds:

  • 1750 RPM – first speed
  • 1900 RPM – second
  • 2100 RPM – third
  • 2200 RPM – fourth
  • 2400 RPM – fifth

You can also get custom speeds using the Therabody app.

Theragun App: Speed Control

Some massage guns rev with much more intensity compared to the Theragun Professional. However, such devices rarely boast a long amplitude as the Theragun Pro does. The Pro delivers the best deep tissue massage and percussive therapy with its long stroke.

Accurate Specs:

We love that Therabody didn’t overstate the above range, as some brands tend to do. We verified the actual percussion range with a high-precision laser tachometer, and the Theragun Pro was very accurate to the specs.

Pre-Sets on Theragun Pro – Now More Practical

The one new feature of the Theragun Pro 5th Gen found in the Theragun Elite model is that you can save customized routines within the device. Now, in the 5th gen Theragun Pro, things get even better.

NEW FEATURE: The predecessor, Theragun G4 Pro, allowed you to save up to 3 routines. The latest Theragun Pro 5th has 4 preset routines, and an upgraded OLED screen now provides visual instructions on how to use Theragun for each routine. Those visually-guided, built-in routines are Relax, Warm Up, Recover, and Sleep.

This excellent feature allows you to quickly access your favorite custom programs without needing to refer to the smartphone screen for instructions from the Therabody App.

Furthermore, you can customize these routines with different speeds, durations, and force levels. You can cycle between the speeds using the < and > arrows on the device. The Theragun PRO 5th gen has four visually guided routines displayed directly on an OLED screen.

Theragun Noise

Here’s where things haven’t been so hunky-dory for Theragun. With all their glamor and innovativeness, they just can’t seem to solve the noise problem with their devices.

They’ve compounded matters by running Ad campaigns that imply that their 5th-generation Theraguns are quieter. They claim that compared to the Theragun Pro 4th Gen vs 5th Gen, the latter model is 20% quieter. Luckily, we could test this for ourselves.

We compared the Theragun Pro 4th Gen vs 5th Gen and noticed a difference. The Theragun Pro G5 is noticeably quieter than before.

So, How Loud Is Theragun?

When we tested the decibels, the Pro 5th gen gave us about 63 dB at the lowest speed and 66 dB at the highest speed, 5 decibels less than the 4th generation Theragun Pro (71 dB, first photo below). Now, since the decibel scale is logarithmic, a 10 dB reduction is perceived as 50% quieter, so the 5 dB difference we observed is definitely halfway there and noticeable.

The thing is, the Theragun Pro G4 has been pretty loud compared to most other percussive massagers on the market. The Theragun Pro 5th Gen is still far from being the quietest massage gun.

Then there’s the sound itself. Although its noise level is now acceptable, it still produces its characteristic rough sound when in operation.

Is Theragun Too Loud?

To ensure your Theragun Pro 5th Gen doesn’t get any louder over time, Therabody folks included a single-use sample of what they call the “Quietforce Solution,” a WD-40-like lubricant packed stylishly, like it was a high-end spa lotion (or something).

They advise adding a few drops of oil to the arm piston (inside) every four months. It’s perhaps not the most user-friendly way to maintain a $600 hard massager, but at least they’ve been creative in preventing it from getting louder over time, so we’ll give them credit for that.

Our Take:

Therabody did attempt to resolve the noise issue, which shows us they’ve been listening to the feedback and likely did their best to address some of the pain points.

The noise has indeed been reduced by about a fifth. The Pro 5th Gen is now even quieter than the Theragun Elite. However, we still think a top-shelf and the most expensive massage gun on the market should be one of the quietest ones – and this one is definitely not.

We’ve seen people argue that the loud noise is a tradeoff for the increased power of the Theragun Pro vs Elite or between the Theragun Pro vs Prime. However, this doesn’t necessarily hold water. We have reviewed many sports massagers that are just as powerful but quieter.

A good example is the Bob and Brad D6 Pro, which, despite having over 60 lbs. of stall force, is still one of the quietest massage guns on the market. It’s also less than half the price of the Theragun Pro, which at $599 should be more hushed.

Theragun Battery

Theragun isn’t messing about here. They’ve introduced some significant changes in the Theragun Pro 5th Gen model.

Fortunately, the battery remained detachable, so those who need more juice can purchase a spare one.

First, the Theragun Pro 5th Gen no longer comes with two batteries—it has just one. That’s perhaps the biggest surprise, and it may feel like a downgrade for some users—think of busy chiropractors and physios.

Additionally, the dual-battery setup was likely one of the factors that somewhat justified the Pro’s hefty price.

We noticed that the shape of the batteries has changed between the Pro 4th Gen and the Pro 5th Gen, which appears to prevent users from using the 4th Gen batteries in the 5th Gen and vice versa.

To sweeten things a little:

  • The Pro 5th Gen comes with convenient USB charging, a solution often found in mini massage guns but rarely in full-size devices. From now on, you can use a power bank to charge the 2500 mAh battery on the go – superb.
  • We noticed that the placement of the USB-C slot on the battery means there is no need for the battery charging dock that was part of the Theragun Pro 4th Gen setup.
  • We also noticed that Theragun has upgraded the battery in the Theragun Pro 5th Gen model, making it more powerful than those in the Theragun Elite and Theragun Prime models. Here, you can get up to 150 minutes of continuous use, compared to 120 minutes on the Theragun Elite and Theragun Prime.

In our testing, we pushed the hard massager to its limits, testing it at maximum speed and with considerable pressure. The battery lasted just over an hour and a half.

Is 1.5 to 2 hours enough? In most cases, it should be enough. One 15-minute daily session lasts about a week on a single charge. That said, some brands can provide up to 4 hours of continuous battery use—the Ekrin B37S is a good example.

Theragun App

We found the Therabody App to be a class of its own regarding functionality and user experience. We take our hats off to the company for taking the time to design an excellent dedicated App for its Theragun Pro.

In our testing, we found that the App significantly enhances the massage experience, helping you leverage the capabilities of the Theragun Pro. Thus, it’s beneficial if you’re unsure how to perform a massage.

For instance, once connected via Bluetooth, the App can recommend the best grip and attachment type and recommend the pressure to apply depending on the body part.

Exploring the Therabody App, we discovered numerous suggestions for activities, treatments, and routines tailored for specific body parts. In addition, you get to use custom speeds within the Therabody App by sliding the speed button right or left (increase/decrease speeds).

The App’s information about the optimal pressure to apply during different routines was helpful. The Theragun Pro allows you to save up to three of your favorite routines, which you can easily access whenever you need them.

Theragun Pro 5th Gen vs 4th – Summary

Theragun PRO G5 vs Theragun PRO G4

After extensively testing both massage guns, we can summarize the key similarities and differences between the Theragun 4th vs 5th Gen.

Similarities:

  • Performance (same amplitude, stall force, percussion range).
  • Look and feel (only minor changes, e.g., new logo).
  • Size and triangular shape (nothing changed in the G5 model).
  • 5 built-in speeds + custom via the Therabody App.
  • Adjustable arm, lockable in 4 positions.
  • Force meter built-in.
  • Removable battery.
  • Bluetooth and Therabody App compatibility.
  • Theragun attachments include Soft heads.
  • 2-year warranty.

What Theragun Pro 5th has that Pro 4th doesn’t:

  • Less weight (2.82 lbs. vs 2.95 lbs. with a ball head).
  • Lower noise, especially at higher speeds (~66 dB vs. 71 dB).
  • USB-C charging port.
  • New soft case.
  • The new Micro-point attachment replaces the Cone-head.
  • 4 visually guided built-in routines via the upgraded OLED screen.

What Theragun Pro 4th Gen has that the Pro 5th doesn’t:

  • Two batteries included – more juice.
  • Hard case (more protective than the current soft case, but bulky, so less practical).
  • Wall charger and a battery charging dock (doesn’t have USB-C charging).
  • More colors are available (e.g., Paris Saint-Germain, Red, and even 24K Gold versions).
  • Personalization: Custom engraving (for an extra $50).
  • Cone attachment (instead of the Micro-point).
  • It now costs ~$100 less, but check the availability on therabody.com, as it’s likely to sell out sooner or later.

Who is the Theragun Pro Best for Then?

When we tested the Pro, we quickly realized that it is undoubtedly the most powerful Theragun we’ve used. We could see why professionals would choose this model.

In our experience, this device’s robust features and power are likely to be especially appreciated by professionals such as therapists and chiropractors. Features like the more juiced-up battery, ergonomic handle with multiple grips, and the power this device delivers are straight bang on.

However, Theragun Pro is not just for therapists and chiros who will get the most out of this percussion massager; top athletes and bodybuilders will also enjoy it.

If you are a serious performer or a buff with muscles, you need a powerful, high stall force massage gun with a long amplitude. The Theragun Pro delivers all these without compromises.

In our experience, the Theragun Professional still offers everything you might need from a top-tier Theragun massage gun, even if you’re not a professional. Do not be unsettled by its powerful features—you can still use the Pro gently, and it will work perfectly.

Following our experience with the Theragun Prime and Theragun Elite models, we noted that the Theragun Pro also starts at a manageable intensity of 1700 RPM. Combined with gentle pressure on the skin and the proper attachment (use the supersoft one if you’re unsure), the Theragun Pro can still give you a soft massage.

If the high cost of the Theragun Pro sounds like a deal breaker for you, but you still need a stable Theragun for your massage, the Theragun Elite is a good option to consider. It doesn’t sacrifice too much in terms of power and is quieter than the Pro, offering peace of mind.

Is Theragun Pro Worth The Price?

Theragun Pro’s retail price of $599 significantly exceeds that of the Theragun Elite model ($399) in the Theragun range. We considered this aspect as we assessed its features and performance. The previous Pro, 4th generation, may still sell for $499.

Therefore, we are talking about the two most expensive massage guns on the market, and even the Therabody discount code doesn’t change the picture much.

Is Theragun Pro Worth It?

theragun Warranty and ProCare coverage
ProCare warranty program.

They offer a 2-year warranty for it (one more year than what you get with the Theragun Elite or Theragun Prime).

You can also now purchase (for $100) an Apple-style ProCare warranty that guarantees free repair or replacement within the first year, plus other benefits.

But it still does not have a lifetime warranty like the competitor Ekrin offers.

Beyond these aspects, we didn’t notice a significant level of innovation that sets the Theragun Pro apart from other high-performing massage guns we’ve tested from different brands. Moreover, it’s still too pricey even though Therabody has made some progress in solving the noise problem.

In our evaluation, the Theragun Pro still stands out as a compelling choice for users who demand top-tier power and unique features like the Therabody App.

If you like the bells and whistles, such as guided routines, and the Theragun badge, and you don’t mind paying the hefty price, then by all means, have at it. You will not be disappointed.

However, from the standpoint of value for money, the Theragun Pro isn’t the best choice. It may have a force meter and Bluetooth and be the only sports massager you can customize with a personal engraving (for $50), but our recommendations below will give it a serious run for its money.

Is There A Theragun Alternative?

ekrin b37s percussion massager
Ekrin B37S percussion massager.

Ekrin B37S: #1 Theragun Alternative

Ekrin B37S is one of the most popular massage guns amongst professional athletes who look for super strong performance but don’t necessarily want to spend $599 for the top-shelf Theragun.

Design-wise, it is a different concept but also proves to be ergonomic, thanks to the angled handle.

The 115-degree tilt helps reduce wrist and hand fatigue and gives you an inch or two more when reaching the lower back.

When it comes to performance features, the Ekrin B37S offers a combination of medium amplitude, enormous stall force, and high-intensity percussions.

The 12mm amplitude is less than Theragun’s and Bob and Brad D6’s 16mm, but many people take this advantage—it is not as punchy, but only until you press it hard against the muscle. Many folks out there, including us, like such a balanced setup.

The stall force, however, is where this Ekrin really shines. The Ekrin B37S has 56 lbs, which on paper is a tad less than Theragun’s 60 lbs, but when you look at what kind of stall force is delivered on each speed, you will realize that Ekrin B37s outperforms Theragun Pro on low and medium speeds.

That’s what makes this massage gun genuinely unique. Once it starts revving, this sports massager does not stall. As a result, this Ekrin can deliver deep tissue massage even at the lowest speed, and it won’t slow down percussions either (contrary to most 16 mm amplitude massage guns).

It revs up to 3200 percussions per minute, 25% or 800 PPM more than the Theragun Pro. It has adaptive speeds and a pressure sensor and comes with six more varied attachments than the Theragun Pro—the flat head and fork attachments are available.

It has a carrying case as well. Its battery isn’t removable, but it’s well juiced up (2550mAh) and can work for 4-6 hours, depending on your use.

Last but not least, it is a quiet massage gun with stellar customer support and a lifetime warranty.

Deal Alert: It is reasonably priced. It normally costs about $250, but if you apply the Amazon coupon and the MGAD6PRO code at checkout, it’s cheaper than our top pick.

Check it out here at Amazon.

It usually costs $329.99, but our MGA20 coupon offers a generous 20% discount, reducing the price to $263.99. Get yours at ekrinathletics.com.

Theragun alternative
Bob and Brad D6 Pro

Bob and Brad D6 Pro

The Bob and Brad D6 Pro is a cheaper alternative with features similar to Theragun Pro’s.

Although it does not have the same triangular shape, the D-shaped handle offers multi-grip ergonomics, and this hard massager packs some serious performance features.

Just like the Theragun Pro, the Bob and Brad D6 Pro has a 16mm amplitude, guaranteeing the best deep tissue massage.

It gets even better because the Bob and Brad D6 Pro has 85 lbs. advertised stall force.

However, when we used it for our Bob and Brad D6 Pro review, we realized it was less (probably closer to 60 lbs) but still on par with the Theragun Pro.

The Bob and Brad D6 Pro has a broader speed range of 1500 to 2500 PPM (Theragun’s range is from 1750 to 2400 PPM), spread over 5-speed levels. Given its long amplitude, it offers more intensity and versatility than the Theragun Pro.

Bob and Brad (brand) know how to handle the noise business. Their D6 Pro massage gun is quieter. Contrary to Theragun, it doesn’t sound rough at all. It remains the quietest 16 mm high-amplitude massage gun on the market (the higher the stroke length, the noisier the device usually is).

Its battery (2500mAh) guarantees up to ~3 hours of use on a single charge. Like Theragun Pro, the Bob and Brad D6 Pro has a travel case and a 2-year warranty.

The Bob and Brad D6 Pro massage gun costs $249.99. However, if you use the $60 Amazon coupon and our discount code MGAD6PRO2 at checkout, you will get it here for under $200.

Review Conclusion

Here’s our Theragun Pro review. We were glad to see Therabody address some of the concerns in the new model. This shows the brands’ willingness to listen to feedback and keep iterating on their products.

Having used the previous Theragun Pro 4th Gen extensively, we found it to be a decent top-of-the-shelf massage gun. In our collective experience, the Theragun Pro 5th Gen has surpassed it, even though some changes, such as the lack of two batteries, might seem somewhat controversial.

That said, having tested a range of percussion massagers, we expect more from a product positioned as the top offering from a top brand.

We also found that some alternatives, while priced at half the cost, were noticeably quieter and still offered top-performance features – the Ekrin B37S and Bob and Brad D6 Pro being our favorites.

Our Take

The Theragun Prime Plus is a comfort-focused full-size massage gun that stands out for its heated attachment, refined feel, and noticeably quieter operation compared to older Theragun models. It is designed for people who want a premium recovery tool that is easier to live with day to day, not just powerful on paper. If you’re weighing it up against other top-performing massage guns we’ve tested, it sits firmly in the comfort-focused end of the premium category.

Performance is strong for general recovery, with enough amplitude and stall force to handle calves, quads, shoulders, and back work. The percussion feels controlled rather than aggressive, and noise levels stay low enough for relaxed home use. The heated attachment adds real value by helping muscles loosen faster and making sessions feel more therapeutic instead of purely mechanical.

That said, this is not a Pro-level power machine. It does not deliver the same level of raw force or sustained pressure as models like the Theragun Pro or Pro Plus. Users who prioritise maximum deep-tissue intensity over comfort will be better served by those heavier, more aggressive options.

Overall, the Prime Plus is a strong choice for users who want a refined, quieter, and more comfortable Theragun with the added benefit of heat, without stepping into the bulk, noise, and intensity of the Pro tier.

Overall, the unboxing experience matches the positioning of the Prime Plus. It feels refined, intentional, and designed for regular use rather than spectacle.

Build, Design & Ergonomics

Frame and Grip Design

The Prime Plus uses Therabody’s triangular frame, which remains one of the most comfortable designs for self-massage. Multiple grip options make it easier to reach awkward areas without straining the wrist or forearm.

Weight and Balance

In use, the Prime Plus feels well-balanced and easy to control. It is lighter and less fatiguing than Pro-level Theraguns, which makes longer sessions more comfortable.

Materials and Build Quality

Build quality feels solid and refined. The housing does not flex or rattle under pressure, and the grip coating stays secure even during sweaty sessions.

Controls & Display

Button Layout & Operation

The Prime Plus uses a simple two-button layout that is easy to operate one-handed. The buttons are positioned within natural thumb reach, making it easy to power the device on and adjust speed without shifting your grip.

Speed Indicators

LED indicators around the power button clearly show the selected speed level. The display is minimal but effective, giving you quick visual feedback without adding unnecessary clutter.

Attachments

Included Attachments

The Prime Plus includes three standard attachments: the Standard Ball, Dampener, and Wedge, along with the Heated Percussive Plus head. This covers everyday recovery needs without overwhelming users with unnecessary extras.

Theragun Prime Plus Heated: Contents.

Twist-to-Lock System

Therabody’s updated twist-to-lock system makes swapping attachments quick and secure. It feels more refined than older pin-style connectors and locks firmly in place during use.

Optional Plus Attachments (sold separately)

Pictured below are two additional attachment heads:

  • Vibration Plus attachment
  • Cold Plus attachment

Note: The Plus attachments are compatible only with the Theragun Prime Plus and the Theragun Pro Plus. They do not work with any other Theraguns.

Theragun Prime Plus Performance

Percussion Depth & Pressure

We measured the Prime Plus at a full 16 mm of amplitude, which places it firmly in the deep-tissue category for everyday recovery. In practice, this gives enough penetration for calves, quads, shoulders, and back work without forcing excessive pressure onto the motor. Some larger devices maintain speed under substantially heavier pressure, which changes how deep the percussion actually feels during aggressive recovery sessions.

Theragun Prime Plus: we measured 16mm amplitude

Real-World Use

During testing, the Prime Plus maintained consistent percussion under moderate load without noticeable drop-off. The feel is controlled rather than punchy, which makes it easier to stay on a muscle longer without triggering discomfort or guarding.

Speed Range & Control

The five-speed range behaves predictably across settings, with no sudden jumps or unstable vibration. Lower speeds are genuinely usable for lighter work, while higher speeds retain control instead of becoming harsh or rattly under pressure.

Noise During Use

Noise levels measured between roughly 40 dB at low speeds and just over 50 dB at the top end. In real use, the sound profile stays smooth and low-frequency, which is noticeably less intrusive than older Theragun generations.

Battery & Charging

Battery Life in Use

In our testing, the Prime Plus consistently delivered multiple full recovery sessions on a single charge. Even with mixed speed use, the battery comfortably lasted several days of regular sessions before needing a top-up.

Impact of Heated Attachment

Using the heated attachment does increase power draw, as expected. Battery life drops more noticeably during longer heat-assisted sessions, but not to the point where it feels limiting for normal use.

Charging & Portability

The Prime Plus charges via USB-C, which makes it easy to top up using common chargers at home, in the gym, or while travelling. Charging was reliable and predictable, with no unusual heat buildup during testing.

Who Should Buy It?

The Prime Plus is a good fit if you want a Theragun that feels comfortable and controlled during regular use. It runs quieter and smoother than older models, which makes it easier to use frequently without fatigue.

It makes sense if heat therapy is part of your recovery routine. The heated attachment warms tissue quickly and adds a more relaxing, therapeutic feel during warm-ups or lighter recovery sessions.

This is also a solid option if you want real deep-tissue capability without stepping into the size, weight, and intensity of Pro-level Theraguns. Athletes who want the most aggressive treatment Therabody offers usually end up moving toward the flagship models in the lineup.

Who Should Skip It?

You should skip the Prime Plus if your priority is maximum pressure and aggressive deep-tissue work. It does not deliver the same raw force as Therabody’s Pro-tier models.

It may not be the best choice if you want the longest possible battery life at high speeds. While battery performance is reliable, heavier massage guns are better suited to extended, high-intensity sessions.

You may also want to look elsewhere if you do not care about heat therapy or premium refinement. Simpler massage guns can deliver similar basic performance at a lower price. If budget is your main priority, better value picks we’ve tested might be another option.

Final Verdict

The Theragun Prime Plus is a smart refinement of the classic Theragun experience. It does not try to compete with the Pro series on power, and that is exactly why it works so well.

In real-world use, the Prime Plus feels more controlled, more comfortable, and significantly easier to live with than heavier, louder Theraguns. The improved noise profile and heated attachment make it particularly appealing for home use, shared spaces, or users who massage regularly rather than occasionally.

If you want a premium Theragun that prioritises comfort, sound control, and everyday usability over brute force, the Prime Plus is one of the most sensible choices in Therabody’s current lineup.

FAQ

Q:  When was the Theragun Prime Plus release date?

Our Take

The Bob and Brad A7 Pro is a feature-rich mini massage gun that stands out for its hot and cold therapy, solid build quality, and above-average power for its size. It is one of the more capable compact options we have tested for general recovery, travel use, and lighter daily muscle work.

Performance is strong by mini standards, with enough amplitude and stall force for calves, arms, shoulders, and neck work. Noise levels stay reasonable for home use, and the lightweight design makes it easy to handle during longer sessions. The arc head and thermal attachment add genuine value rather than feeling like gimmicks.

That said, this is still a mini massage gun. It does not deliver the depth or sustained pressure needed for heavy leg sessions, deep glute work, or intense post-training recovery. Users who want true deep-tissue performance will be better served by a full-size model like the Ekrin Kestrel or their larger D6 Pro model, which delivers much stronger deep-tissue pressure.

Overall, the A7 Pro is a strong choice for users who want portability, versatility, and added recovery features in a compact form, without expecting full-size massage gun power.

Our Deep Honest Bob and Brad A7 Pro Massage Gun Review

[wp-review id=”32931″]

Unboxing, Build Quality, and First Impressions

Bob and Brad have consistently put effort into how they present their products, and the A7 Pro maintains that standard.

It comes in an ash colored travel case with their distinctive blue Bob and Brad logo. The case’s design is compact and well-organized, meeting their standards. It’s handy for people who travel or move around a lot.

This Bob and Brad mini massage gun itself feels more premium than previous Bob and Brad compact massagers, including their smaller Q2 mini model, which is designed more for travel and quick recovery sessions

Now, what’s in the case?

The case contains:

  • Bob and Brad A7 Pro massage gun
  • 5 diverse attachments
    • One of them provides hot and cold therapy
  • USB-C charging cable
  • Travel case
  • Extra rubber sleeves
  • A user manual and guide for massaging muscles

Build Quality & Design Improvements

Compared to previous Bob and Brad mini models (especially the Bob and Brad Q2), the A7 Pro has several improvements, such as a longer amplitude, a silicone handle, giving the device a premium look and feel.

Let’s look at them.

Metal Accent Housing

bob and brad a7 mini massage gun

This is a great upgrade from the Q2 Mini’s plastic body. It gives the gun a premium feel and makes it more durable.

It also adds additional grip when grabbing and holding the mini massage gun from that area.

Improved Balance

The weight distribution reduces wrist strain, which is an issue with some compact devices, and we also noticed that the thermal head adds significant weight to the mini massager, making it heavy during long sessions.

Hot and Cold Therapy

Bob and Brad A7_massage gun hot and cold attachment-LED off

The hot and cold thermal head is a feature that has been expanded to most Bob and Brad massage guns.

In the mini massage gun category, it was first seen on the Bob and Brad Q2 PRO.

So what’s different here?
Well, this hot-and-cold massage gun attachment is the hottest we’ve seen, with a max temp of 122-140°F (50-60°C).

Better Materials

Bob and Brad A7_pressure indicator GREEN

The handle is now made of silicone and features grooves that prevent slipping and dampen vibration. It also means long usage sessions will be more comfortable.

Versatile Bob and Brad Massage Gun Attachments: What Are They For?

The Bob and Brad A7 Pro comes with 5 attachments:

  • Ball head
  • Air cushion head
  • Cone head
  • Hot/cold therapy head
  • Arc head

One significant improvement is that these attachments now use a twist-and-lock mechanism instead of the traditional push-in method.

Usually, we find that new or additional attachments can be more of a gimmick than a real purpose… However, let’s explore the Arc head further.

Arc Head

Unique in design, this curved attachment fits naturally around arms, calves, thighs, biceps, and outer shoulders. This was created to mimic professional hand-massage techniques.

There are cushy nodes that damp the initial contact with the muscle, letting you get used to it before you feel confident pressing harder. This is more crucial when treating shin splints. So, thumbs up for it!

Bob and Brad A7_massage gun attachment_arc-head-head

Hot and Cold Therapy Attachment

Most compact massage guns offer percussion, vibration, and similar attachments. The hot and cold therapy feature makes this small massage gun stand out.

Heat/Cold Therapy Indicators

The thermal head of the A7 Pro[3] has color-coded LEDs. The colors tell you the temperature range. We tested and observed that:

  • Light Blue indicates Cold (10°C/50°F drop)
  • Dark Blue indicates Colder (15°C/59°F drop)
  • Orange indicates Warm heat (40–50°C/104-122°F)
  • Red indicates Deep heat (50–60°C/122-140°F)
bob and brad a7- hot and cold therapy

The warming effect improves blood flow and enhances the effectiveness of percussion therapy [1].

Controls, Indicator Lights & User Interface

It offers four fixed speeds: 1,600 RPM, 2,000 RPM, 2,600 RPM, and 3,000 RPM; plus a fifth auto mode that cycles up to the top speed, holds briefly, then ramps down.

Bob and Brad did a thing with the A7 Pro’s minimalist LED-based user interface, which is different from the more common digital screens. This design is easier to interpret, and it is the first time we have seen it on this massage gun brand.

The ring LEDs indicate pressure levels: yellow for low, orange for medium, and red for high, aiding correct force application and memory of previous intensity.

The Bob and Brad C2 uses a similar LED force indicator, which is displayed on the back of the device.

Our Test Data and Performance

Massage gun amplitude

Most mini massage guns stay in the 6-8mm range.

The A7 Pro’s 11mm amplitude would have stood out if it were not actually a 10mm amplitude massage gun. At 10.2mm, the device is more vibrational than percussive, as seen with an amplitude of 13mm or more.

Bob and Brad A7: actual amplitude measured

However, the low starting speed of 1600 RPM makes it feel less vibrational.

Stall Force

Bob and Brad claim the stall force is up to 40 lbs, which is unusually strong for a compact massage gun. Our tests revealed that it’s easier to stall it at the lowest speed, but difficult at full speed (we estimate around 36-38 lbs).

However, there is an auto-pressure feature that senses when the force applied is high and can potentially stall the motor. To avoid stalling, its speed automatically increases to the next level and returns to its initial speed when the force is removed.

The A7 Pro can maintain consistent pressure on larger muscle groups like the thighs, glutes, and back without cutting out too quickly. It’s also a great improvement from the older Bob and Brad Q2 Mini, which is ~32 lbs.

Speed Range

The 5-speed system is well-balanced and can meet various needs, from light relaxation to deep muscle therapy.

The auto mode dynamically adjusts based on pressure, just like premium massage guns. But what does it mean?

When we were gently working a muscle, the RPMs remained constant until we applied more pressure. In that moment, the RPM automatically increased to add intensity to the massage and prevent the motor from stalling.

Noise Level

When it comes to noise, the A7 Pro is in the middle ground for mini massage guns. It’s not the quietest mini massage gun on the market, particularly at high speed.

During our tests, it hovered around 36 and 58 dB at different speeds, which is slightly above the Bob and Brad Q2 Mini.

Battery Life

The A7 Pro uses a 2550 mAh battery and takes about 4.5 hours to charge from empty. We also tested charging time from when the battery indicator flashed red, with approximately 15-20% battery remaining. The result was ~2 hours until fully charged.

From our testing, the results show the battery lasts an average of 2-3 hours, depending on speed and pressure.

Bob and Brad A7_USB-c port

The hot and cold therapy attachment uses its own internal battery and lasts for about 60 minutes, but takes 2 hours to charge.

For daily sessions of 10-15 minutes, most users won’t need to charge the Bob and Brad A7 Pro often, and USB-C charging makes it more convenient.

Hot and cold attachment for Bob and Brad A7_USB-c port

Pricing and 2-Year Warranty

The Bob and Brad A7 Pro sells at $99.99 (with a $20 coupon) and $119 without it. You can get some full-size devices at a similar price that have similar specs, but they won’t be easy to carry around.

So if portability is essential to you, this is a good choice. It offers value and still remains in the price range of other mini massage guns that lack hot and cold therapy.

Who Should Buy it?

The A7 Pro is a great fit for people who deal with gym soreness, tight muscles from sitting at a desk, or general body tension. The A7 Pro gives you a balance of strength, portability, and extra features like heat and cold therapy that make recovery faster.

It’s a great choice for travelers, runners, and cyclists, especially those who aren’t experienced with complex massage guns.

If you are a frequent flyer and like to bring a mini massage gun on a plane [4], a more compact option for your carry-on could be your preference. The Q2 Pro mini with hot and cold therapy is tiny and lighter but has a 7mm amplitude. Still unsure? It can also help to see how this type of compact massage gun compares with other small travel-friendly models.

Who Should Skip it?

You should skip the Bob and Brad A7 Pro if you are specifically looking for deep-tissue percussion on large muscle groups like glutes, hamstrings, quads, or the lower back. While its power is impressive for a compact device, it cannot match the depth, sustained pressure, or session comfort of a full-size massage gun.

It is also not the best choice for users who regularly train heavily or want aggressive post-workout recovery. If your recovery routine depends on high amplitude and strong stall force, a larger device will deliver better results with less effort.

Finally, if you want smart features like app-based routines or guided programs, this model will feel basic. The A7 Pro focuses on physical features rather than connected software.

bob and brad a7: who is it for?

Final Verdict

The Bob and Brad A7 Pro is one of the strongest all-round mini massage guns we have tested, offering solid power for its size and genuinely useful hot and cold therapy in a compact, travel-friendly design.

It’s best suited for everyday recovery, lighter muscle work, and users who value portability and versatility more than maximum depth. As long as expectations are set correctly, it delivers reliable performance without feeling underpowered for general use.

If you want deeper, more aggressive muscle treatment, a full-size option will be a better fit. The Ekrin B37 is a strong alternative with more depth and sustained pressure, or you can explore our guide to high-amplitude massage guns for other options.

Medcursor Massage Gun Review: OK for Beginners, but Quite a Thrill for the Pros! https://massagegunadvice.com/medcursor-massage-gun-review/ https://massagegunadvice.com/medcursor-massage-gun-review/#respond Mon, 24 Nov 2025 20:06:10 +0000 https://massagegunadvice.com/?p=13197 Welcome to this hands-on Medcursor massage gun review.

This particular Medcursor massage gun has been gaining quite a bit of fame on Amazon. It’s a budget massage gun that costs under $100. We bought it and have had some fun with it for a few weeks now.

We’ve seen a few budget massage guns under $100 that have impressed us up to now. A case in point is the two Taotronics (TT-PCA003 and TT-PCA004) that we recently reviewed.

In this in-depth Medcursor massage gun review, we will share our thoughts about it and also answer whether you should settle for this muscle gun or top up $50 to $60 on a better massage gun.

medcursor massage gun
Medcursor massage gun: Review Model-MG01 by Greg.

Is Medcursor a Good Brand?

Medcursor is a Chinese brand that sells on Amazon.

Their main focus is on sleeping and relaxation gear. We visited their store and found out that they sell sleep sound machines, heating pads, foot massagers, massage chair pads, and, of course, massage guns.

MedCursor massage gun: logo

But is Medcursor a legit brand? After all, we’ve heard everything we need to hear about Chinese brands selling on Amazon.

But we have reason to trust Medcursor:

  • First, they are not a new brand; they have been selling products on Amazon for many years.
  • Second, this massage gun has over 9500 reviews!
  • Thirdly, it looks like they were not affected by some of the Amazon bans that took out over 600 Chinese brands for incentivized review scam (more on this marketing tactic here).

Nevertheless… this muscle massager is always “out of stock”, or “currently unavailable”.

We don’t trust Amazon ratings today as we did in the past. The good thing, however, is that most massage guns on Amazon deliver what they promise. Most of them have at least a 4-star rating on Amazon.

But the devil is in the details, and we wanted to make sure this Medcursor is worth the money, or if there are better guns at this price range?

In our opinion, this is a loud toy that you may end up throwing away or not using because of its poor performance. Our expert recommendation is to save some additional money and get an entry-level massage gun with a lifetime warranty.

First Impressions

We’ve seen a similar massage gun design before, so there’s no “WOW” effect when you first open the box.

It’s the same design as the Sportneer K1 or the Shogun Sports gun. It also looks a lot like the Youdgee H1 massage gun – although that muscle massage gun had a different control panel than the one here.

It’s a reasonably compact massage gun – it’s not too big, but it’s not a mini massage gun either.

It’s more or less the same size as the Taotronics TT-PCA004, which we recently praised for its near-perfect size. Although here the handle is a tiny bit shorter – about a quarter of an inch to be precise.

It’s also not a heavy massage gun, weighing just 1.52 pounds (690 grams) with the flat attachment mounted on.

We picked a Medcursor MG01 with a gray handle and a dark blue rubber stripe with controls. It also has a semi-perforated surface on the motor case. We’re not entirely sure whether it’s aluminum or another metal.

The materials used here are okay, but you don’t get the premium feel you’d get with a high-end massage gun. But we can forgive that because of the price. Also, the handle isn’t fully rubberized, which gives it a somewhat “plasticky” feel. Yet there are no visible screws, suggesting a solid device.

For about $70, we don’t feel the need to complain about the Medcursor MG01’s look and feel. However, we’ll just say that the Taotronics TT-PCA004 is better in terms of quality.

What is Included?

There is no carrying case here; which is a bummer, because the cheaper Taotronics had carrying cases.

Other items included with the device are;

  • Medcursor massage gun charger.
  • The attachments.
  • Spare attachment gaskets.
  • A Medcursor massage gun instructions with How-to-Use info.
  • Information on how to use the device on different muscle groups – a nice inclusion.

Controls

The control buttons are located on the tiny rubber strip on the handle we just mentioned above – rather weird if you ask us.

Our first instinct was to click the Medcursor MG01’s logo on the glossy back panel to turn the device on, but it didn’t do anything.

It’s a one-button operation sports massager, but the button isn’t marked on the rubber strip. It’s probably because this is a budget massage gun. They’re not always the best ones, so it is worth it to explore the best value massage guns.

The LEDs are also located along that strip. It may take a minute to get the hang of how to operate it, but once you figure it out, it becomes easy.

To start this handheld percussion massage gun, you have to long-press the power button. Short presses will change the speed. The 5 LEDs indicate the speed gears. The lightning icon indicates the battery charge status.

medcursor mg01: controls

Medcursor massage gun attachments

You get 6 attachments with the Medcursor MG01 – not bad for the price of this muscle massager. However, the attachments aren’t so cozy – there is no soft attachment in the collection, just hard ones. We found that a bit odd because most brands add some sort of cushioned head for tender areas.

The only one that comes close to soft is the Ball Head which is made of EVA foam with a slight give to it. Even so, it feels pretty hard on the skin.

The other attachments are all hard plastic but look a bit cheap – you get what you pay for (and here is why)!

Expect the following apart from the ball attachment;

  • Wedge Head
Medcursor touts it as being good for soft tissue, but we believe it works better on calves, quads, and the hamstrings – especially when you press the muscle massager at an angle.
  • Bullet Head
This one is for trigger point therapy and foot massage.
  • Fork Head
It’s good for treating the area along the spine, trigger points, and the neck. Don’t use it directly on the spine.
  • Flat Head
This one is for larger muscles or if you prefer a punchy massage.
  • Flat Head with Metal Cover
Medcursor says the metal is stainless steel. We take that with a pinch of salt. We believe it’s cheap aluminum. It’s very light and not cold to the touch, as metal tips often are. Good examples of metal tips include the ones that come with the Bob and Brad’s X6 Pro

Overall, we believe it’s awesomely generous that Medcursor chose to include 6 attachments for a percussion massage gun this cheap. However, the quality of the attachments is wanting – it’s so-so at best. You get 2 flat Medcursor attachments that are supposed to do different things, but they feel pretty similar.

We prefer the attachment set for the Taotronics. Those weren’t perfect, but they were better, and there was a cushioned head.

Ergonomics

There is no WOW effect here either. It’s the same generic T-shape we have seen before from other small massage guns. But we won’t complain because it’s not heavy, and may not strain the arm so much.

But we have beef with the handle design. There’s nothing wrong with the length; we think, for some people, it’s just enough. The circumference is also not very thick – most folks will hold it comfortably.

But where’s the rubber to make the grip firm? There’s the tiny strip with the button, and the LEDs, and that’s it! Everything else is plastic. Compared to the Taotronics in the same price range, the Taotronics had better handles.

We also don’t like where the button is placed. Accidental pressing will be a problem when using, especially the speed; it won’t be easy, but it’s possible.

Overall, we feel they should’ve added rubber throughout the handle, from top to bottom, to make the grip a bit more comfortable.

Otherwise, there’s too much plastic that may prove difficult to use for longer. Certainly, the Taotronics massage gun did it better

Performance

So what’s the performance like with the Medcursor MG01?

Amplitude

Amplitude, or Stroke Length, is how far the head travels during percussions.

The advertised stroke length here is 11mm – that’s pretty decent if it was true, but is it? Our measurements revealed that it was 10mm. That’s still pretty good for a small cheap massage gun.

It’s actually longer than the Taotronics TT-PCA004 which has a 9mm stroke length. 10mm is vibrational at best, but not the worst you will ever get. With decent stall force, this massage pistol can do well.

Stall Force

Medcursor says it’s 16.5lbs. We did our own tests, and it’s pretty close to that figure.

It’s nothing impressive if you’ve used massage guns with more than 50lbs. of stall force, but if you are starting with massage guns, it may be good enough; still pretty low for muscly individuals.

You could use it for a relaxation massage, where you don’t need to apply much pressure. That said, it stalls very easily at speed 1, but the higher you go, the harder it is to stall it.

Speeds and Percussions

The advertised speed range is 1200-3200 RPM– a very nice and wide range for an affordable massage gun.

However, we checked ourselves with a laser tachometer and got 1450 to about 3050 RPM. That’s a slight discrepancy, but still a good range of vibrations per minute. This device will let you start slowly and gradually get more intense, but it doesn’t have the guts to be a Medcursor massage gun deep tissue, as advertised.

We also love the 5-speed option. Since it only has one button for everything, more would mess things up.

Noise

Unfortunately, this is quite a noisy massage gun. They claim it ranges from 35dB to 50dB, which would be pretty quiet and pretty awesome, too.

However, we measured it, and it is 60dB to 72dB – that’s close to deafening territory for a massage gun. It’s also pretty odd that it has a small amplitude and yet still revs quite loudly. A higher noise level might be expected from high-amplitude massage guns, but not from a device with an amplitude of 10mm or less.

The price shouldn’t be the excuse here, because we have tested cheap massage guns, such as the TT-PCA003 or the TT-PCA004, that operate much quieter. Even Bob and Brad’s T2 and C2 have a similar amplitude and are pretty quiet.

But the worst bit about the noise is the rattling. It rattles a lot around the tip – where the attachments mount. Every Medcursor attachment mounted seems to make it rattle. This is what makes the sound unpleasant. We wonder if it rattles this much now, how much more it will do in about a year.

Battery

The battery’s a 2000mAh capacity – a bit less juice compared to peer massage guns, many of which tend to be 2500mAh or more.

But it’s probably not a bad thing, given it’s a budget massage gun. Plus, more juiced batteries tend to add weight.

The battery will do about 2-3 hours of continuous use before you may need to charge it again. If you use the device at higher speeds and apply more pressure, the battery will drain faster.

BE AWARE

Our massage gun Medcursor, came with a USB-C charger. However, according to the brand itself, older versions have a M,edcursor massage gun charger instead. So be careful when you are buying. They say they ship randomly, which means there is a chance you may get an older version of the massager that doesn’t charge via USB-C. We like USB charging because it means convenience.

There is a battery charger indicator (the little lightning icon) that lights up when the massage gun is charging. Here’s what the different colors mean:

  • Green: there’s 70-100% charge
  • Yellow: it’s 30-70%
  • Red: means it’s 0-30% and needs charging.

There’s also an auto-shutoff feature that activates after 10 minutes of use. We would’ve preferred 20 minutes, but it’s a budget massage gun, so it probably heats up faster.

medcursor massage gun deep tissue: battery led indicator

Who is it Best for Then?

Anyone looking for an entry-level massage gun, beginners, and those who want a simple device to use at home. But it feels and performs like a noisy toy. A much better massage gun would be the Ekrin 365, which comes with a lifetime warranty!

Also, if your budget is tight and you are looking for your first massage gun, it is better to save some money for a good-value massage gun. The Ekrin 365 is better for relaxing muscles, treating soreness, massaging your back and shoulders, and warming up your muscles before you engage in some physical activity like running

As the Medcursor performs like a toy, it won’t be the right massage gun for demanding users who are looking for more power and a deeper percussive massage you’d get with a high-amplitude gun. The amplitude in Medcursor isn’t long enough, and there isn’t much power to hit deep into the muscle tissue.

This will also not be a good Theragun alternative – the amplitude and stall force are far from those of Theabody Theragun recovery tools.

Medcursor Warranty and Price

You will only get a 1-year warranty, which is pretty much what we’ve come to expect from a budget Amazon massage gun.

If you want a longer warranty (lifetime actually), you can check out Ekrin Athletics massage guns.

The Medcursor is low in price. You can get it for about $70 if you apply the coupon given on Amazon.

Check the current price on Amazon.

Also check out the alternative below. It is even cheaper and has some good specs to go with the low price.

Best Alternative – Taotronics TT-PCA004

taotronics tt-pca004 compact size massager

It has a very similar concept to almost the same size and weight. The design is also pretty similar.

However, you will miss about 1mm with the amplitude here (9mm instead of 10mm), which isn’t such a big difference, to be honest.

When it comes to the overall value, however, this Taotronics is better in many ways.

For starters, it’s made with better materials and has better attachments. It also feels good to hold because of the rubber on the handle.

There’s more stall force than the 16lbs. you get with the Medcursor (mid 20s lbs.). That means you can press it harder against the skin and get a more thorough massage.

It’s also quieter in comparison. Our measurements gave us 43.1dB to 58.1dB – keep in mind that the TT-PCA004 has 20 speeds.

The attachments provided are 6, just like the Medcursor. The difference here is that you get a cushioned one for delicate areas. There is also a carrying case.

You can get it for $69.99 or apply the OTT25 coupon that takes 25% off.

That means you are getting a similar device with better materials and accessories at a much lower price.

Review Conclusion

So here’s what we can say after this Medcursor massage gun review: it’s below an okay entry-level massage gun for beginners, nor for personal use at home.

If you want a first-time massage gun and have a tight budget, it is better to save a little more and buy a reliable one with a lifetime warranty.

However, there are still cheap massage guns that cost less with an inferior performance than the Ekrin, like the one we just mentioned above, the Taotronics TT-PCA004, when available, it’s better equipped than the Medcursor.

You decide!

Achedaway Cupper: Cupping The Back With A Smart Cup At Home https://massagegunadvice.com/achedaway-cupper-review/ https://massagegunadvice.com/achedaway-cupper-review/#respond Wed, 05 Nov 2025 19:46:00 +0000 https://massagegunadvice.com/?p=8729 Welcome to our Achedaway Cupper review. In this article, we’ll look at the Achedaway Cupper, which elevates cupping at-home therapy to a whole new level.

We’ve been talking about massage guns for a while now, but the sports recovery tech world is growing daily. Every once in a while, something new pops up.

Achedaway contacted us and asked us to take a look at their new dynamic cupping therapy device. We were intrigued, and now we can tell you all about it here.

Is this a new fancy gadget or a new take on flame cupping therapy and dry cupping, which has been known to exist for centuries?

HINT: It’s a nifty electric cupping therapy device, perhaps a fresh take on fire cupping therapy, but there are areas to improve on – read on for more ⤵

Cupping Therapy Massager and Dynamic Cupping – What is it? Benefits?

Like we saw with massage guns, most sports recovery treatment methods become famous when celebrity sportspeople embrace them – put it on a celebrity and watch it go boom!

The same thing happened with the cupping therapy massager. Although this treatment method has existed for centuries – about three and a half millennia – it didn’t become mainstream until the world watched Michael Phelps’s circled bruises in the 2012 Olympics.

woman with traces of cupping massage
Cupping massage traces.

Questions were asked, and those who knew about the cupping therapy massager manufactured more of it quickly.

But What is Cupping?

The Chinese and Egyptians used it thousands of years ago to treat different ailments. The method started with heat being placed inside cupping cups (using flammable liquid like alcohol), then the flame cupping was placed upside down on the patient’s skin.

They become muscle suction cups, which create a suction effect due to the cooling air inside the cup.

However, the flames do not get close to the patient’s skin. With advanced technology and new methods, pressure valves are used instead to create massage suction cups.

Myofascial cupping is a technique in which suction draws skin, fascia, and muscles into the cup, providing blood circulation(1) and relieving pain.

myofascial cupping therapy

Dynamic Cupping: Achedaway Cupper

But then there’s dynamic cupping, which involves full-range motions and sport-specific movement.

Cupping cups are placed on the injured area. A medical practitioner (a certified cupping therapist, physiotherapist, chiropractor, or acupuncturist) starts gliding cupping around to affect the underlying tissue.

Another cupping technique employed by this method is affixing several cupping cups across desired spots and then letting the patient go through a series of movements or specific sport-specific movements – this is a great athlete cupping therapy.

Myofascial cupping has great benefits(3) if done correctly:

  • Cupping and lymphatic drainage: The dynamic cupping method improves lymphatic circulation by flushing toxins in the affected areas.
  • Improved blood flow(1): The suction from gliding cupping over the affected area increases blood flow. This means oxygen and essential nutrients can travel to the pain areas and repair the damaged tissues.
  • Relieves muscle stiffness, removes knots, and reduces muscle tension: Muscle suction cups stretch muscles and remove knots. Gliding cupping over the affected areas can also stretch out fascia and minimize muscle tension.

AchedAway Cupper vs. Traditional Cupping: What’s the Difference?

Here, we have added a simplified table for comparing an electric cupping therapy machine against the traditional cupping.

FeaturesAchedAway CupperTraditional Cupping
Suction Control✅ Adjustable via app❌ Fixed suction
Red Light Therapy✅ Yes❌ No
Ease of Use✅ Simple, automated❌ Requires training
Portability✅ Rechargeable, travel-friendly❌ Requires multiple cups & flame

What Cupping Method does the Achedaway Cupper Utilize Then?

The Achedaway Cupper not only employs the dynamic cupping method, but it takes this technique a notch higher.

The Achedaway Cupper brings dynamic cupping technology, or what they call smart cupping, to the forefront. Although to some extent this may sound like a marketing ploy (what’s the difference with any other cupping cup anyway?), It’s not.

Although the cupping cup can still be used for traditional (static) and dynamic cupping, it has a unique twist. It uses rhythmic suction and release alterations. This electric cupping massage feature is not common, and you won’t find it with manual cupping cups or even the ones that use pumps.

This Achead Away Cupper makes cupping a unique experience by dynamically changing pressure. It’s not just any other gadget; it’s a serious proposition for those involved in glass cupping therapy. It’s also a superior alternative to the already existing dry cupping.

Bottom Line:

The Achedaway Cupper, an electric cupping therapy machine, employs the dynamic cupping method.

However, it does so in a unique way. Although it doesn’t do gliding cupping on its own (would be cool if it did), the dynamic pressure concept is genuinely remarkable and unrivaled.

Achedaway Cupper: First Impressions

The cupping therapy massager comes in a stylish box that somewhat resembles what we’ve seen with Hyperice packages – this one is smaller, though. Unboxing it, we found a compact smart cupping device that measures 3.7 x 3.7 x 2.83 inches, making it highly portable.

achedaway cupper package: cupping therapy for cellulite
The Achedaway Cupper comes in a stylish box.

The Achedaway Cupper looks and feels like a premium-quality product. The build quality is perfect, and the materials used are premium. The material used is plastic, but we like this kind of plastic. It looks like it’s going to last a while.

The appearance is stylish. It’s a glossy plastic that is a fingerprint magnet but looks exquisite when cleaned. It’s matte black (plastic) on the side. The buttons are rubberized and feel nice when pressed.

The Achedaway Cupper is light, just 0.47 pounds (or 215 grams with a middle-sized cupping cup installed). The cupping cups look fragile, and you can quickly tell they won’t handle a drop.

But the folks at Achedaway knew this and added a lanyard. It’s a simple yet effective way to secure the smart cupper when used. If you need extra leeway, an extension cord (included) can make it even longer.

This is perfect for cupping the back. You can put the lanyard over your neck to secure the cupping glass in case it suddenly loses suction and falls off your back.

The Cupping Cups

The Achedaway Cupper is fitted with a cupping cup already in case you want to use it immediately.

There are 3 interchangeable cupping cups:

  • The medium cupping cup is already mounted (screwed on)
  • The small cupping cup is unique from the large and medium cups. It’s curved to make it easier to stick on curved body areas (e.g., cupping leg, cupping on shoulder, cupping therapy knee, cupping foot, etc).
  • The large cupping cup is flat, like the medium cup. These two are used on large muscle groups, such as leg cupping therapy (or cupping for buttocks, cupping the leg, etc.).

This electric cupping machine also has replaceable filters that sit tightly between the cupping cup and the smart device. The filters serve two roles:

  • To block out granular and liquid impurities in case you use lotion during the massage.
  • It acts as a seal to prevent air entering and leaving the massage suction cups.

We also found a USB charging cable and an instructional manual. The manual has information on operating the cupping therapy massager, charging it, cleaning guides, and other helpful tips, like using the Achedaway Cupper App to control the device.

Our overall impression is that this is a superb dynamic cupping device, and it feels great to have it with us.

We sort of freaked out with all the buttons and different LED lights indicating different things, but it’s nothing we haven’t dealt with before (especially with massage guns). Once you start using the cupping therapy massager, it quickly becomes clear how it works. It’s intuitive and straightforward to use.

Achedaway Cupper How to Use | Cupping at Home

The basic instructions on how to use the device are as follows:

  • Put the cupping therapy massager on a desired part of the body – with the correct cupping cup screwed on.
  • Turn it on by pressing the power button for about 2 seconds.
  • Let the dynamic cupping do the work. You can adjust the intensity while the smart cupping is in operation.
  • When you’ve had enough, you can quickly press the power button to stop the Achedaway cupping.
  • That’s it! That simple!

That said, the Achedaway Cupper gives you some interesting massage modes and controls; this is where it gets intriguing.

Massage Suction Cups: Pressure

Applying suction pressure is essential to fire cupping therapy(2) (or when using pump cupping cups).

This electrical cupping has an impressive suction pressure range (variable suction intensity). It has 5 levels between 20 kPa and 60 kPa, which translates to 2.9 Psi—8.7 Psi or 0.2 bar—0.6 bar.

Well, what are those anyway? Let’s put it this way, this little device is a powerful sucker – precisely what massage suction cups are meant to be, but this one’s a bit stronger.

The first setting (the default one) already gives you 20 kPa, which is quite powerful. Scroll all the way to the fifth setting, and the intensity is tremendous. It may not be the perfect place to go unless you are a demanding user who needs it.

Depending on your desired level, you can easily control the suction intensity by pressing the suction button a few times. You can also use the Achedaway Cupper App (we’ll talk about it soon) to change the intensity. The red bars on the dynamic cupper will indicate which level you’re at.

Electric Cupping Therapy: Modes

But the dynamic cupping isn’t complete without the 5 pre-programmed modes. These are rhythmic alterations of suction and release, in different combinations and at varying pressure increments.

They’re effective for trigger point therapy and improving circulation (lymph and blood)(1). They also play an essential role in myofascial release, flexibility, and range of motion.

Press the M button on the cupping therapy massager to select a mode. The level increases with each press of the button. The green bars LEDs indicate the current level.

The modes work as follows:

  • Mode 1Wake-up mode:
Pulse mode is for quick suction and quick release.
  • Mode 2—Relaxing mode:
This is also a pulse mode and a quick and slow suction combination. It does more suction than the first mode. It slowly releases the pressure and then starts over.
  • Mode 3—Massage mode:
This one performs a more prolonged suction and holds the pressure for a moment before releasing it—the release is shorter than in the previous mode.
  • Mode 4—Professional mode:
It starts with a more prolonged suction followed by a series of very short extra suctions with 3-second intervals between the extra bursts. It doesn’t really pulse but keeps the suction high the whole time. It does that for about 1.5 minutes and then turns off.
  • Mode 5—The Powerful mode:
It combines short and long suctions for extra intensity. It’s pretty powerful, especially if you switch the suction power to level 3 or above.

Red Light Therapy: Cupping at Home

The Achedaway Cupper has Red Light Therapy. You can turn it on or off by pressing the bulb icon.

Red light therapy may sound like an extra feature but is excellent for pain management and decreasing inflammation. It heals muscles and skin tissues. Low levels of red or semi-infrared light translate to heated muscles that support healing.

How Does the Achedaway Cupper App Work?

This cupping electric is Bluetooth-enabled and works with both iOS and Android. It’s a simple yet flawless App.

The connection to the cupping therapy massager is seamless, and once connected, you can use the App to:

  • Control suction intensity
  • Switch between modes, and
  • Turn the red light therapy on or off

The Achedaway Cupper App also has a convenient timer feature. Once set, the timer activates the smart cupper automatically and shuts off automatically when the time elapses.

But do you really need the App? Yes, you need it when:

  • You have multiple Achedaway Cuppers and need to control them. The app allows you to connect to various devices and control them.
  • You are cupping the back and can’t reach the buttons on the smart cupper. It works perfectly until you need to pause the device. There isn’t a stop or pause button on the app, so you will have to reach the device to do this.

Battery on the Achedaway Cupper

We’ve talked about all the nice things this cupping therapy massager can do and how it works, but how much use can you get before you need to charge it again?

Well, a 1800mAh capacity battery isn’t a bad thing for such a small cupper.

The battery life is up to 3 hours, but it will vary depending on the suction level. Since you will not take much time massaging a single spot, 3 hours is more than you need for a full massage.

We love that the device charges via USB instead of a dedicated charger. You can also charge it with a power bank when traveling with your Achedaway Cupper.

The battery only takes 2 to 2.5 hours to charge fully. The battery charge indicator flashes red on the dynamic cupper as it charges and changes to green when fully charged. The charge indicator is also on the app.

achedaway cupper: charging port
USB-C charging port.

Is The Achedaway Cupper Noisy?

You can rest easy because this smart cupper is not noisy. You can hear the suction pump engaging, but it’s nothing discomforting.

You will occasionally hear a beep or two when you press the buttons (even on the App), but these are feedback tones and nothing unusually irritating. The beeps are default and cannot be turned off.

Cleaning Cupping Glass

Yes, the cupping cups must be cleaned, but this is also a breeze. If you’re not sure what to do, there are instructions that will help.

In a nutshell, though, you need a dry cloth. The plastic cupping cups are detachable and can be removed and cleaned easily and quickly.

Pricing and Warranty

Achedaway sells a single cupping therapy massager for $169 and a double electric cupping set for $299. But we have an Achedaway discount code—MGA25—that gives you a $25 discount, so you can get a single one for $144 and a double one for $274 (more suction cups for back, the better).

If you buy directly from achedaway.com, you will get all the support you need. It’s also a way to support this excellent brand. Their website has many real user reviews with pictures.

You will get a 1-year warranty and 30 days to return the product if you encounter any problems.

What We Would Love Achedaway to Improve on the Cupper

We love the cupping therapy massager, yes (we fell in love with it at first sight), but a few things could be added or improved:

  • There is no pouch or carrying case:
A pouch or a protective bag to carry the Achedaway Cupper with you would be a terrific addition. The smart cupper looks fragile, and we all know the box doesn’t last. A small pouch similar to what we saw with the Theragun Mini would be enough.
  • Backlighting should be added:
The buttons are great and have icons, but they’re not backlit. This may present a challenge when operating the device in a dimmed room. Also, because the dynamic cupping is round, you can’t tell which button to press unless you can see it.
  • A setting to mute the beeps:
There’s a reason we mute the beeping on our phones. It can be unpleasant when you don’t want to hear the beeps. There should be a setting to turn them off, at least within the App.
  • These suction cups for the body should be a Pause or Stop button within the App.
  • There should be more practical information on how to use the smart cupping massager on certain body parts, such as how long to use the device, best practices, etc., but we didn’t see that information in their manual.
  • Guided sessions could be included:
Since there’s the Achedaway Cupper App, it would be nice to see some guided routines on how to use cupping at home in different scenarios and on various body parts.
We saw Hyperice and Therabody do this.
  • There is no Automatic gliding cupping:
Wouldn’t it be super-amazing if the smart cupper could actually glide through the body as it massages you – perhaps a setting for this? Call it wishful thinking, but nothing is too wishful these days.
  • We hope to have an option to extend the warranty:
It would be awesome to have this because it shows that a brand is willing to stand behind its product. We wouldn’t mind paying for such a thing.

Is Achedaway a Good Brand?

Yes, Achedaway is remarkable and trusted brand. They have an excellent reputation for designing quality products.

achedaway pro: logo

They’re a Chinese-American company that has been around since 2019—that is a lot and more than enough in the fitness tech industry. Their name stands for pain relief: ached away! We have used and loved their products for a while now. They consult with experts before developing their best recovery tools for athletes.

We have known them through their massage guns. First, with the Achedaway and then the Achedaway Pro, which we have recommended in many of our massage gun reviews.

With the Achedaway Cupper, they are undoubtedly venturing into alternative fitness recovery avenues, which is good to see from a brand we know so well. Just like Hyperice and Therabody, the brand is on an upward trajectory and thriving.

We love the Achedaway Cupper—it’s absolutely worth it—but we’d love to see some small improvements in the future.

FAQs

Can the Achedaway Cupper be used while charging?

No. Many cupping therapy massagers don’t allow for this for plenty of reasons. It minimizes damage and accidents as well.

Does the time activate/stop the Dynamic Cupper automatically?

Yes. The timer is an excellent feature that allows you to use the smart cupper effectively. It works just as advertised.

Can you use the Achedaway Cupper with lotion?

Yes, it’s no problem if you want to use lotion—it’s actually recommended. You only need to ensure the lotion does not pool on the skin before attaching the Achedaway Cupper. However, please do not confuse it with wet cupping (not blood from cupping).

Is there an auto shut-off in the Achedaway Cupper?

Yes, the electric cupping shuts off after 12 minutes of continuous use.

Can Achedaway Cupper do gliding cupping?

In theory, it can. But in practice, the suction is quite strong, so it may not work for everyone. Also, that’s why it’s recommended that you use lotion first, and then you can do gliding cupping along the body. Some use it for cupping for cellulite and buttock cupping. It may be a bit harder when cupping the back.

Achedaway Cupper Review Conclusion

Let’s recap a few things before we end this Achedaway Cupper review.

This innovative cupping therapy massager takes cupping to a whole new level. We love the concept of the dynamic cupper, and we’re confident that fitness enthusiasts will also love it once they get to use it. It has a well-executed design, is portable, and is nicely built. The cupping cups are easy to clean, and the battery life is decent enough.

But it all comes down to the dynamic suction, the pre-programmed modes, and the Red Light therapy. It’s marvelous! We can wholeheartedly recommend this cupping therapy massager for these features alone.

In our opinion, the value for the money is outstanding. It’s not a pricey item, and many people may be able to afford it as continuous cupping therapy cost could be hard on your wallet.

Plus, just to remind you, you can save $25 if you use our Achedaway coupon MGA25 (Achedaway promo code) to reduce cupping therapy cost. You can get your Achedaway Cupper here.
